    Hey guys this is me talking, just wanted to clarify, this speech wasn't meant to vilify weed, this was just a precursor to the main point of my TEDxTalk... I know no one asked, but here's a few things I'd like to say
    1.) It wouldn't have mattered what the substance was, I definitely was dealt a hand that was going to best case: lead me to the rooms of recovery, and worst case: lead to an early death
    2.) I smile a lot, mainly out of nervousness, if you watch the whole thing, I acknowledge that the smile is a mask, there's still a lot of pain under it
    3.) whether you struggle with addiction or not, most of us have something to mask the pain that we've experienced or continue to experience in life, for a long time, that was drugs and alcohol for me
    4.) At the end of the day, I'm just another dude, trying to figure it out like the rest of us, my God is the only thing that can help me, luckily, he sometimes speaks through people like you or the world around me
    5.) Whatever you're going through, I wish you good health and love, the only way we can get through this thing is with one another and a higher power of our understanding
    Stay beautiful! ODAAT

    My story is so similar as a child. Im a recovering addict as well. 29mths clean from a 10yr addiction that began with percocets, then to Oxys, then to heroin which progressed to Fentanyl. Before my opiate addiction I was addicted to cocaine for 7 yrs. I went from owning my home to living in a tent in the bushes for 2yrs. I finally got housing again, and my walk to Sobriety began. I stumbled, tripped and fell many times before I was able to get any significant clean time behind me. This last 29months has been the longest clean time ive had. It feels great. I am blessed to still be alive. ❤❤

    The reason people become addicts is because they like the feeling that it elicits. Until it doesn't. It ruins every relationship. It takes away any financial gain. It will bankrupt you. Any friends you have will leave you. This is only a partial of the actuality of abuses of alcohol.

    • @Chaos1976
      @Chaos1976 Před 11 dny

      Actually the main reason people become addicts is a coping mechanism for trauma. Generally in early childhood but not always. Another reason is being prescribed medications (opioids). And this is agreed upon buy almost all professionals in the field of addiction. Dr. Gabore mate being the leasing expert on the subject. Listen to some of his stuff on CZcams. I know because I was an IV drug user. I was a using addict for over twenty years. Hard core drugs like meth and heroin and fentanyl and such. I spent a year of my life in residential treatment. I tried extremely hard to get clean. I studied everything I could on addiction. Read the books, took the courses. Got three different certificates from treatment centres where I lived with therapists and psycologists and a whole lot of other addicts. That’s the fact of why people become addicts. Our brains are wired differently than other people who aren’t addicts. It’s a strange thing. So to overcome it you have to heal from the trauma. And that is no easy feat. I think it’s only 2% of people who get clean from IV drug use. The worst way you can get high is with a needle. Most people die on it before they ever get clean. And trust me, I didn’t like the feeling on meth. It was a horrifying nightmare. Yeah you got a crazy rush the moment it goes in your vein but then it was instant hell. Paranoia like you can’t imagine. Terrifying hallucinations, just a nightmare. Yet I’d do anything to get more. It’s horrible. 3 years clean now.

    Naww, it's the path chosen for you in life that does it to you "everyone," but it's the path chosen for you i feel cause I was there in front of my addiction for years.. until my uncle sadly used my self control against me to get me addicted until i was squized empty and usless to him but he would do it again if giving the chance I'm sure
    But just stay away from everything unless your ready for the repercussions from the decisions you make ... can't tell you twice ...

    Im sorry i dont understand this. I have been smoking weed since i was roughly 16. Not once has it ever lead to me doing anymore than that. Please stop saying that using weed first was the gateway drug to doing other drugs. Its not. Maybe for some people but i think its caused by another want or need thats stronger than what weed can provide. So i feel ots not necessarily the weed itself. But congrats for your recovery!
