Kevin and Holt are actually Jake's dads. It's funny how both of them actually care for Peralta a lot more than they actually realise.
They're the best dads/parental figures jake could ask for 🥺

Holt and Kevin are great as they are a gay couple that isn't stereotyped for laughs and are actually two of the most respected characters in the show without resorting to cheap humour like nany comedies do
Because being gay wasn't a personality trait in this show. Every other show stereotypes them, while B99 just portrayed them is regular people.

I really, really like that Kevin didn’t automatically bond with Holt’s team and that every scrap of respect and camaraderie was earned. It’s just really good writing that you rarely see in half-hour sitcoms.

It's so funny to me how on my first viewing of Kevin and Holt I thought they were kind of a dry couple but now after everything I've seen it's all so sweet and heartwarming. They really have such a great relationship and it makes me so happy.

Kevin and Captain dad have the kind of relationship that on paper doesn't seem all that interesting and shouldn't work but seeing them together you can see how they are truly soulmates and the PDA scene always puts a smile on my face

The brilliance of Captain Holt and Kevin is that they seem like serious ppl so I end up expecting that, and then when it veers off into ridiculous land, I am just so taken by surprise and they do it every single time. It is just such great comedy.

Two well dressed men stand in an appointment bespoke kitchen, preparing a Charcuterie tray. There is a bottle of expensive wine open and breathing. Captain Raymond Holt delicately slices Sweet Breads, while Kevin places a beer stein gently onto the long onyx granite kitchen island, next to the two fine wine glasses.
Raymond
(looking aghast)
"What is THAT?"
Kevin then removes from a hiding place, a grocery bag and places a two liter of RC Cola and a large bag of Doritos.
Raymond
"Dear God, no."
Kevin
"Raymond, I have a confession to make. I have invited someone to join us on....movie night."
Raymond
"You're just having me on. This is a ribald jibe at my expense. HA! Very amusing."
There is a doorbell chime behind them, the chimes play the opening bars to Hilliard's symphony in third. Raymond stares at Kevin. Kevin unblinking, stares back. Someone is heard knocking at the door and re-pressing the doorbell, starting the chimes all over again.
Raymond
"You...without consent. Did you even stop at the library for the next boxed set of The Obscurity of Ansessa in the original Akkadian sanskrit sans subtitles?"
Kevin
"Dearest, it gets worse."
Kevin holds up a DVD with a disheveled man on the cover. It is a shabby looking overweight Nicholas Cage, clearly past his prime. The only word on the front is PIG.
Raymond
"This is insanity. I will not subject myself to any of your Nicholas Coppola Cage shenanigans."
Jake Peralta lets himself in and walks right into the kitchen, a big toothy smile on his face.
Jake
"Hey Dads, dudes, buddies, hey! What's up? OH! Chips!"
Jake pops open the bag and begins eating Doritos.
Kevin
"The referenced pig is a Truffle Hunter. And he's been abducted."
Raymond stares at Kevin, Kevin Stares at Raymond, and Jakes smiles ignorantly with Dorito bits in his smile, and looks back and forth at both of them for some moments. No one speaks. This goes on for roughly a full thirty seconds.
Raymond
"I'm listening."

I would've liked to see more of Kevin in the show. He's great. Truthfully not as iconic as Holt, but similarly, a brilliant straight man, who occasionally loses his cool in very comical fashion. (Straight man as in style of acting, personality).
I wonder if after basically acquiring a horde of scruffy cops as their children Kevin ever wishes cops still avoided socializing with Raymond.
