In general terms auditing is all about checking that whether rules and regulations are you can say guidelines or the criteria is followed or not.
The kind of audit we (students/members of CA and ACCA are concerned about) is an audit of financial information.
Audit in the context of financial information means checking that financial information has been prepared as per the guidelines, rules and regulations as specified by the law or the national accounting body of the country.
