- A newly-formed tropical storm named Hilary is making its rounds. California will not see a hurricane making landfall. However, it will not be immune from the remnants of Hilary. There will be a threat for flooding rains across Southern California from Sunday through Tuesday.

@annemckenzie379 frfr. Southern california is not even remotely ready for any of that type of weather especially those winds . Our buildings are just not made for that especially many houses in the urban areas. It's commonly taught to children that hurricanes are like a once in a million years type of thing. That's not exactly how they'd describe it to you but most people make it sound like the possibility of it ever occurring during our lifetime is unfathomable. I guess we won't know until it hits

Is it wrong if i said that i'm kind of excited? I mean this will be my and many other Socal civilians first legit hurricane. It's like preparing for a snowstorm, you just don't see this type of weather here everyday. This will also help with the drought.
Except it won't though. That's the problem. I live in the SJV, and we've got an excess water problem rn. The doubt died for us this last spring. It's drying up now, but it's not even close to being done. We have too much ice pack melting into our lakes, more than our reservoirs can handle and farmers know what to do with. All this storm will bring is destruction of crops so the water will have nowhere to go. Which will waste money, time, and all that wonderful spring water we obtained.
I live in snow country. It is NOT like preparing for a snowstorm. ☃

@@ZeeManiaX I think it's the thrill of curiosity. Sometimes something bad happening in the world is more exciting and entertaining than nothing at all happening. Sort of like a morbid curiosity. It's not that we want anything bad to happen, we just want something exciting to happen than we can dive into and obsess about. Kind of like when that Seagate submersible went missing, it's not that anyone actually gave a shit about the people on board, we were just super infatuated with the mystery. Or like when something dramatic in politics happens. We easily get drawn and glued to the drama of it all. It's like watching a drama in real time.

I was in Cabo for a category 4 hurricane. The looters gave me water for free but I had to pay for food.
What year was that and what hurricane was it? I can't remember a time where a hurricane hit the west side of us/Mexico and have lived in the area for 33 years.
