      I have exactly the same observation - an all-star parade! And our beloved orange ruling the waves 😊

    All the people, conversations, music, bell ringing and still much quieter than a street filled with cars!

      Yes! Precisely. Cities are not noisy... cars/motor vehicles are noisy. Thanks so much for watching. Cheers! John

    A lot of people riding bikes but also a lot of familiar faces that I recognize from CZcams. 🙂 Cheers. P.S. - it's raining in Colorado, also.

    Very enjoyable, truly positive interviews (Pekka is great), but the DABF still wonders ... on what kind of bicycle did John ride ???

    Very nice. I was talking with someone today who is from the Philippines. She said students are doing their studies online because it's too hot to go to school, to travel. They regularly in their hot season reach 50+ degrees Celsius. People feel nauseous at that temperature. People die of heat stroke. That's global warming, climate change. She said it was not always like this. So it's more than shrinking glaciers. It's places in the tropics getting so hot people can't tolerate going outside. Riding a bicycle, fun as it is, instantly is zero co2 emissions, as well as having many other benefits.
    I love how long this parade is!

      Yes! I can relate having studied in the Philippines 🇵🇭 for a year in the 80s. One of the first things I did was buy a bicycles as it was freedom to roam in a non-polluting way. We must all move forward in decarbonizing our transport systems with a sense of urgency.

      @@ActiveTowns I googled the high temperatures in the Philippines and found the highest they ever got was 41c. It must have been with humidity or with other factors. I was reading temperature is measured from the air, 1.5m from the ground and in shade. Ground temperature in the sun can be substantially higher. As much as 30 to 50 c. I have the feeling air temperature can be different in a forest vs in a parking lot, etc. But she said students study online because they can't go to school, the temperature makes them sick. And she knew a Canadian who went to holiday in Philippines, got heat stroke and died. These may be true if high temperature is not. Regardless, we do have global warming.

    And I'm busy noticing odd things like the recumbent around 4 minutes in and the mixte with the blue front tire at 14:37.
    I see enough blue tires to make me think it's a rental fleet.
    The size of the cargo fleet was impressive. Bikes everywhere from trikes and long johns to giant flat bed trailers.

    • @ActiveTowns
      @ActiveTowns  Před rokem +1

      Yes, indeed! The blue tire bikes are none other than the Swapfiets subscription program that has expanded from the Netherlands to Leipzig. They are also expanding in the UK. swapfiets.co.uk/
