- Delightful version of this piece by Johann Strauss! Ms. Grayson provides us with an unusually lovely interpretation, belying her mere 20 years at the time! Here seen with Johnny Mitchell, and the 2 charming youngsters whose names I cannot find. From 1942.
A million thanks to my friend Ellen for having made this possible! I'm in her debt!

What a lovely scene...! All three ladies are adorable... ✨✨✨
I just wish there were more movies with Kathryn Grayson available on DVD...
Thank you so much for sharing this little gem! 💎
I love Kathryn Grayson ever since my parents introduced me to her movies more than 50 years ago.
there will only be one KATHRYN GRAYSON,,she was a beautiful woman with an amazing voice
Love Kathryn Grayson. Just discovered her on the movie Til The Clouds Roll By. She sang with less operatic vibrato on american ballads. Unusual to see african american actresses in an all white world in those times. At least they were treated with some respect in this scene...more or less.
A very nice voice, and Kathryn has a splendid beauty...
Kathryn had so much talent. And so very beautiful.
Another debt of gratitude for providing such a masterpiece as this. Miss Grayson is wonderful!
The Vanishing Virginian, 1942. There's a fun number in the film where she evidently sings live on the set and you can see how the majestic voice of that little girl excites the other cast members.
A true talent, as well as a true beauty.
Thank you kind friend! Such a lovely melody, handled with great gusto by the wonderful Kathryn. I'm grateful for you comment.
It is always delightful to see and listen to lovely Kathryn; so thank you for this posting.
Kathryn grayson and jane were the best of the best coloraturas ..
Thank you!
Amazing singer..loved kathryn since i was about 8 years old
@carmenjones411 Hi, and thanks so much for your comment! So many years ago, but lovely Kathryn and the 2 pretty little ladies make this a classic! Very happy to hear from you!
Hi again friend! Thanks so much for your comment. Ms. G's out-of-this-world! She's not much older than the little girls she's singing to!
Wonderful.
Ничего себе!!! Very good!!!
@glawsny Kathryn was so young here; possibly one of her 1st movies! Thanks so much for your comment, but please don't cry! Instead, rejoice that we were the lucky recipients of her enormous talents!
@h2750n Delighted to hear from you! What a voice indeed! Grateful for your uplifting remark, as well as your mention of a couple of some of the best mythical critters who've ever been acknowledged and known so from afar! You are one "Genius!"
Hi "B!" I believe, short of some few short-subjects, this probably was one of the studio attempts to "sell" her to the public. No "hard sell" was necessary; her performance here was really a delight! Thank you for commenting.
You're welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed this very early clip of Ms. Grayson.
Oh this is adorable!
@MegaWehrmacht Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you, too! I'm so honored that you enjoyed this clip of Ms. G! I'll make it a point to visit the music of Erna Sack! Best wishes to you.
You're welcome; only wish I had more to show of the amazing Ms. Grayson! Delighted to hear from you!
Snow White in the making such talent
@orangeandannieftw Hi! This is from "The Vanishing Virginian," 1942. Happy to hear from you, and hope you enjoyed this.
one of the greatest coloratura sopranos of all time. She has stronger support than Lily Pons and better inotation than Beverly Sills!
That’s not correct. I love K. Grayson and treasured all her recordings but her technique cannot be compared to Lily Pons and B. Sills’. K. Grayson barely sang operas on stage and often (always?) sang concerts with a microphone. Her voice was tiny but incredibly lovely. Sadly she started to make pictures while she was still a teenager and never received a full technical training in spite of her natural gifts. Because of that her voice quickly deteriorated. Lily Pons on the contrary maintained all her life an impeccable technique and one can hear her singing incredibly well in her 70s. Beverly Sills was not only an incredible coloratura but she was much more than that and sang incredibly dramatic roles (Roberto Devereux, Norma, Anna Bolena) using a well projected and powerful voice. They simply cannot be compared. You cannot compare a MGM movie soprano with opera singers
