  • My first species that I have been wanting to start breeding is the corydoras species. I have did research on breeding - spawning methods and have came up with a few breeding methods of my own that has been working for me. Keep in mind this may not work for you but it has given me results so I will continue to learn and develop a better way in this journey.

    To all the UTube soo called experts. “ Oh you you need at least two mails per female!” Fish that are in good condition healthy and well cared for will do whatever they want. Personally I have never met a catfish that can or has read any book or list of rules of conduct.
    If it works for your fish? It works period. Keep up and enjoy your fish.

      @RLCAquatics  Před 4 lety +1

      Yes I was Mr. Taylor I have a video I made before i found out that they were not julli of me starting a colony. I will be doing another update on the Corys and future plans this weekend. I need to start recording the nitrate levels due to many people asking. Im still new to the breeding and learning every day so please forgive me. 🤝

    • @TheBSideDJ
      @TheBSideDJ Před 4 lety

      @@philliptaylor5981 why are you curious what the nitrates are ? Just keep them low enough to breed. They don't breed ? next time a bigger water change (preferable with cooler water). Using some tricks makes breeding corydoras rather simple (i'm not talking about the wild caught ones, which can be very hard to breed)... I breed different types of corydoras and fish in general, and don't measure nitrates, i use that time to do an extra waterchange (and lower the nitrates). They still won't breed ? Use a lot of live food and let them do their think. Don't mess with your tank too often. Only think to keep in mind : some cory's breed and immediately eat their own eggs. Watch them when they are in breeding modus. Corydoras paleatus are known to eat their eggs, and i can confirm that from my own experiences.

    You ain’t crazy, but you could also leave the heater off (if you use one)
    I’m here because my Corydoras laid last night, I did a water change two days ago, left the heater off till the evening by accident, and now they have laid eggs, so the water temp drop must really set them off. Only problem is, i have one female trilineatus and 4 pandas, I’m not sure they will hatch

    • @RLCAquatics
      @RLCAquatics  Před 3 lety +1

      Yeah different things work for different people. I’ve herd about people leaving a heater in the aquarium and then removing it completely after a water change

      @@RLCAquatics trilineatus are often sold as jullii, because jullii is more rare, a bit more difficult to breed, and therefore more expensive. The wholesaler or LFS knows he got trilineatus, but still sells them as jullii, just to make more profit.... and/or LFS / clients don't know the difference themselve... . That's the reason a lot of people think trilineatus is a jullii. its not difficult to see the difference when you know where to look (the linings on the head versus spots). I always report this in LFS's when they are labeled incorrectly. They rarely change the label afterwards. And so everybody thinks a trilineatus is a jullii. A false jullii does not exist, it's a trilineatus, .. it's only the wholeseller who is false :)
