I still can’t stand the fact that they named her HBO show “Insecure” though. “Awkward Black Girl” WOULD have been better & black women are clearly “relatable” or so many ppl wouldn’t be stealing and appropriating from black women with little to no credit, attribution, or respect...😒
The name “Awkward Black Girl” was marketable or it wouldn’t have been successful. 🙄 The gatekeepers in the media told her that name wouldn’t be “marketable” and they were wrong. The name just made them uncomfortable.
I hated that they changed the format of the show, but i LOVE Insecure. One thing i noticed about Insecure is its more of a drama-comedy series, verses straight comedy like ABG was. ABG Issa went through way less dramatic issues and emotional rifts compared to Insecure Issa. I use to be in tears from laughter while watching ABG, where im more in tears from relating to heart break like a drama series naturally plays out with Insecure.
