  • Welcome back to some more Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Today I have some more stealth gameplay. I'm enjoying this game a lot, and I think it's a step up from Origins. I can't wait to try out some new builds and gameplay styles to see what I can come up with. Let me know if you're enjoying the videos, thanks for watching and thank you for the support :D

      Miguel Moronta you couldn’t have said it any better. I can suffer with the frame rate drops every now and then due to so many NPCs but that’s exactly what makes the game so alive. Other than that the game played really well after they patched a lot of its glitches. And the graphics engine is better then odyssey and origins in my opinion. Still one of my favorites and I play it to this day with my best friend lol

      @@lyrics2challenged you're right. I finished Odyssey and started playing origins now. And I gotta admit the combat in Odyssey was easier than origins because of the abilities. You even get some slow motion effects when you dodge or parry when an enemy attempts to hit you so you can get a killing blow or an epic counter attack. That's what makes Odyssey fun. Every time after I play origins for about 4 hours because of the story, I always come back to play Odyssey for the stealth kills and clearing forts. It's so satisfying. Ubisoft did a great job and I don't get why people are hating the newer AC games more and more.

      No it isn't. It's not even AC game. They should have made a game set in Ancient Rome with Aya (Amunet) as our main protagonist instead of this.
      It would be a perfect occassion to continue Origins storyline but also start something new and this time focus more on stealth and social stealth instead of fighting.
      AC Odyssey is just so random. It doesn't fit AC and the rpg elements are implemented poorly and they are really out of place. This is a wrong direction for the series. They need to go back to cinematic animation based combat and focused storylines.

    • @032_m.alfathcirrus5

      @@Azrael095
      These are my opinion about your opinion:
      1. Aya isn't a good character according to the fanbase, they should've sticked with Bayek in the sequel.
      2. Social stealth in the past AC games were shit tbh... people reacting like AC 1 is one of the best stealth games ever because it has social stealth button, ignoring the fact that there's no crouch button. Took them years for them to add the crouch button until Unity came out. So yeah, i think i might agree with you if they improved the stealth mechanics like wearing different outfits have different effects for the social stealth mechanics.
      3. RPG in here isn't as grindy as other RPGs imo... it doesn't feel out of place since this series were getting boring. If you don't like them, then what is the formula to keep the franchise alive? If i may ask.
      4. Combat in the new games might look clunky and less cimematic but it works everytime and it's addictive, also unpredictable because how dynamic it felt due to the hitbox and varied enemy levelling, atleast to me if that makes sense... every encounters with the enemies felt different. Less predictable than animation based combat... press counter then insta-kill, press dodge then press F to do 360 aimbot with pistol (AC IV, especially), press dodge then press space to make them fall, then kill them lying on the ground.

      @@Azrael095 wouldn't you rather them just do a spin-off like odyssey to work on a rome one with bayek and aya and focus on a good story for that?

    • @Azrael095
      @Azrael095 Před 5 lety +16

      1. Aya was a cool character in Origins but she wasn't the main focus of the story so I get why you might not like her. She could still be a great protagonist in a sequel. Origins was combat oriented but it already had some nice stealth mechanics like hiding in the grass, poisoning enemies, throwing sleeping darts, hiding bodies, creating distractions etc. I think a game set in Rome and with Aya as a main character would be a great opportunity to expand on those stealth possibilities.
      Perhaps Aya could only use small weapons like daggers but she'd be an expert with a bow and hidden blades. We could see the return of social stealth (hiding in crowds etc.) but refined and upgraded this time. There are so many possibilities previous AC games didn't use. For example if the enemy is close to a bench we could stealthily assassinate or poison him and then put him on a bench, which to a passer-by would look like the guy fainted and we just helped him take a seat. We could have different kinds of poisons (one that kills people, one that makes people go crazy, hallucinate, scream etc. so they create a distraction, a poison that makes enemies go berserk so they start attacking everyone.
      The brotherhood system could return so we could call our assassins to aid us. It could work like the combat skills in Odyssey where you hold left bumper + press assigned button. Each one would do sth different. We could call assassins to cause distraction, silently assassinate someone, start a brawl, shoot arrows from a distance etc.
      I don't want to go on for too long but you get the picture. The game would surely have the potential to be interesting, beautiful and innovative but at the same time it would feel familiar. It would also be a continuation of the Origins storyline which would be great because recent games are really disconnected from each other. And remember that Origins was pretty open-ended and it implied a sequel heavily. It would not be far fetched at all. Perhaps we could meet Bayek or maybe he'd be a playable character too just like Aya was in Origins. Maybe both characters would have equal time just like Jacob and Evie in Syndicate! Maybe even co-op mode could be brought back but this time it would be story driven! We could also meet Esio - the boy from Cyrene who Bayek sent to Rome to be trained by Aya. He could be one of the returning characters. There are so many possibilities!
      2. social stealth wasn't perfect in previous AC games but it was interesting and it surely has potential. Just consider things I mentioned above. Combining classic stealth (crouching, hiding etc.) with social stealth would result in great gameplay IMO.
      3. RPG elements are fine as long as they make sense and they don't go too far. Choosing your skills, doing sidequests and tackling missions in different ways are all great. But Odyssey went too far to the point it doesn't even make sense. In AC you're supposed to relive history through the Animus so having dialogue options and having different endings doesn't make any sense. Previous games had predefined stories and endings but it wasn't a drawback. It was actually good because next games could refer to the old ones and everything was connected with each other. Now that Odyssey has multiple endings we know for sure that its story is utterly irrelevant because it won't be mentioned in any game that comes next. It's just a random story with a few things from AC lore but it's meaningless at the end.
      RPG elements in Odyssey are also really stupid and not thought through very well. For example the whole thing with deciding if you want to side with Sparta or Athens. The fact that you can choose that means that the character you play as can't possibly display any real motivations or beliefs about these things. Everything must necessarily be vague so that you as a player can choose for yourself. And your choice doesn't even matter in the end so what's the point of that in the first place? This 'freedom of choice' is detrimental to both story and the logic of the world shown in the game. For example in Odyssey you can massacre whole camps of Spartans and then come up to a Spartan soldier who has a quest and Kassandra will enthusiastically agree to help him kill some Athenians. It's just stupid and doesn't make any sense. Good characters have strong motivations. That's why Bayek was so likeable. He acted like a human being and had strong convictions. Protaginists in Odyssey are just robots without character who do any stupid shit the player wants to do. Story suffers because of that.
      Also the whole ability tree stuff doesn't make sense. This broken spear of Leonidas has to be the most random ass Piece of Eden in the history of Pieces of Eden. Note that every PoE we've seen in AC series so far had a theme and a certain characteristic that defined it. Apples fucked with people's heads - caused hallucinations, could be used to manipulate people etc. The sword gave you advantage in combat. The shroud had healing powers and could resurrect people. And then we have the spear... it allows you to teleport to enemies instantly, shoot guided arrows, become invisible, take no fall damage, set your weapons on fire and kick enemies with a cinematic thud... I mean what the fuck is that?! That's the most random set of powers ever! Why would that even exist???
      Odyssey should have been a new IP. It could be perfectly good as a standalone game about a Spartan demigod with superpowers and it didn't need to fuck with AC lore. They could have made it a brand new game just like they are making Skull and Bones and wait a couple years before releasing new AC game. Preferably a sequel to Origins I described earlier. Btw how funny is the fact that they release a game called fucking ORIGINS and a year later they release another game that takes place 400 years before xddd
      4. Combat in Origins was fine because it didn't have all this superpower bullshit and it was grounded. You had to block, use your shield, use attacks at the right time etc. Combat in Odyssey, however, is just chaotic and weird. And when I said I prefer animation based combat I really mean it. I'm not saying that combat was perfect in previous games but it was definitely fun and it was unique. There were a lot of animations, different finishers and every fight looked great. I really don't get why developers were so excited when they announced hitpoint based combat in Origins. This shit has been in games forever! It's just a classic slasher game mechanic. You swing your sword/spear and if enemies are within reach they get hit. It's not innovative at all!
      What they should have done is stick to old combat but just improve it! For a long time I had this idea about how a perfect combat system should work and I'm stunned no one ever implemented it in a game (that I know of at least). It works as follows:
      It's an animation based system so the enemies react to your hits (and vice versa) in predefined ways but there are a lot of variants and different animations so it's not always the same. When you "hit" an enemy they lose some of their health but you don't visually slash them with a sword (or another weapon). You just weaken them. Imagine a real sword fight. People don't just slash each other like maniacs because you'd be dead after one slash in real life. What they do it tire each other out. They block each other's hits but with every successful hit the enemy gets a bit weaker. So you just hit their sword or a shield, maybe punch them in the face with a fist or kick them and eventually when their health goes down to a critical level your next attack is fatal and you do a finishing move (you slash someone, stab them, slit their throat or whatever). When you're fighting a few enemies at once the finishers are quick - just a swift stab to kill someone. But when you finish the last guy off you do a more elaborate and more brutal finisher (because now you'd have time for that realistically). Taking damage from enemies would work the same. When someone hits you (when you dont dodge or counter in the right moment) your character still blocks the attack but it's more clumsy and you get stunned or punched, maybe it makes you stumble or sth and you lsoe a bit of health of course. Only when your health drops to critical level can the enemy visually stab or slash you. And then it would be fatal. Game over.
      Counters could stay in the game because they are much better than constant dodging and rolling on the floor like a retard. Just make them stun enemies for a couple seconds instead of killing them and problem is solved. You'd still need to be aggressive and proactive but the fighting system would be more challenging. And that's what people were complainig about - that old system was too easy. You could also have combos and new moves like in Batman Arkham series, Shadow of Mordor or new Spiderman - throwing knives during combat, doing special finishers, stunning or kicking enemies etc. They could think of something, I'm sure.
      I think this kind of combat system would:
      A) look better and much more cinematic
      B) it would look much more realistic (no one in real life would survive a sword to the stomach like Bayek does in Origins). As games graphics look more and more realistic the game mechanics should reflect that in order to avoid this weird discrepency between visuals and what actually happens. Watching beautifully rendered and animated characters get stabbed or shot hundreds of times and not die just breaks immersion in my opinion and is a bad design. In The Last Of Us you could finish the whole game without ever getting shot - this is the example of a good design. Now try playing Origins (which is a great game by the way) without ever seeing Bayek pierced by arrows. You simply can't.

      Really? Then tell me how do you finish conquest battles, legendary animals and creatures with a stealh assassin? I personaly do like the game, already finished it with a hunter build, now going again with warrior one. Byt pure assassin is simply useless in most parts of the game.

    • @MrFanMaker
      @MrFanMaker Před 5 lety +39

      @@janpanek6284 Unlike the rest of the other franchise? All the other games were so piss poor at stealth. Not even an option for crouching and one set way to kill the target. and those things you listed were like 3 quest and all of them you don't even have to do. It's just an option hence why its called "Conquest Battles" or "Legendary Animals" or "Mystical Creatures". You are nitpicking shit just because you need so you can blow the it out of proportion and make it seem like this is such a terrible game when it's not. I don't understand why people just take small nitpicks and blow it up just for kicks. It ruins a lot of things and makes it even harder now to even trust the word of the people anymore. I can understand if you don't like the game but list out legit reasons.

    • @nyx4074
      @nyx4074 Před 3 lety +3

      @Milon’s Missie Agreed. I've been playing since AC I. Not just play, but get into the lore as well. It's always been the same story. Only few people that actually plays the game and look at the game lore-wise can accept new AC games. The rest is just casual player who thinks that AC is only about assassins killing templars because templars are the bad guys ( but actually not ) and considered themselves as "old AC player". It's always been the same, the way they react to new changes.
      I remember those days when they complain : AC combat is too easy, repetitive, main quests end to fast and after that there's nothing left to do, need some game with some progression instead rush and finish the game, side quest is useless, etc.
      Now they've installed that changes and 'old ac player' complaint : Why this why that, the previous ac are better.
      It's just my opinion but, it seems people just don't want to adapt. They want changes but when they got it they feels it is hard and they want to the old system back. Lore-wise, people complaint : This isn't ac games, there's no assassins. I mean do they even realized that AC was never only about assassins? It's just like saying "there's no human in BCE period because they're called homo sapiens at that point, not human" which is totally weird.
      Nothing changes about those kind of complaints. I remember when AC Black Flag first was released, people complaint the same thing : This isn't AC game, this isn't assassins, this is pirate game. Naval battle suck, assassins don't do this, etc. But after many years later they will accept it anyway. Same with AC Origins, exactly the same. Now people start to enjoy the game. It's just some don't want to adapt and some others enjoy the new changes. I know I'm not the only one who've been playing AC franchise since the beginning and enjoy the new changes. I'm indeed expect to have an assassin's creed game and indeed it's still assassin's creed game because the main focus is still there ( which is the isu - human ). It's just many 'old ac players' focus in the wrong point.

      The AC spirit is realistic stealth and climbing. Yes it has lost it. No it is not a bad game, the mechanics work and it runs fine and is a lot of fun.
      But this isn't the 'a man with a blade and a few tools'. This is a demigod like Talion in the Middle Earth series having fun with a few mortals.
      Invisibility for example. ACs have the promise do make you feel like you are in the time - all the story nonsense aside. This is not this games intention. It is set in ancient Greece but the whole concept changed. Again, it really is a fun RPG but not a stealth based historically accurate and realistic assassin simulator ;P
