I’ve been doing this for years but never had a name for it… the only thing I don’t do is slide the cards back in once they split… I just go straight into the bridge and drop
A good starter note: Use fresh cards and just practice lightly pushing the corners together so the cut into each other. Fanning is harder to achieve at first. Once the starter has the basic down, work on the fan (pushing in such a way to make the cards separate individually). Until the starter gets the hang of it all they will ruin the corners of cards, so don't use expensive packs, but some Mavericks or Classic playing cards.
I still do not get how to get the cards to start to separate to allow the cards from the other deck to interweave. Always had a problem learning the Pharoh.

Fun fact: 8 perfect Faro Shuffles in sequence will restore the original deck order
Another fun fact 2 in a row will give you a perfect bridge hand.

When learning this, get a brand new deck rather than a worn in one. Once you get the technique down you can pretty much do it with any deck.

Keep trying, it’s an odd shuffle but you will get it out of no where and then will be able to do it with ease. Don’t give up. Good luck.
