Actually, no. Electric bass and upright are the same... E1 A1 D2 G2. Lowest four strings are the same as guitar in standard tuning (E2 A2 D3 G3 B3 E4) but an octave lower. Cello is C2 G2 D3 A3 and basically +/- covers a guitar in drop C.

Guitar and Bass are both tuned in fourth, but Celli are tuned in fifth.
Difficult to arrange, especially the soli. They did it in a brilliant way 👏

Such a genuine pleasure to hear with this arrangement! In 2022 I am 48 -this is THE music from my teens. My son is now 14 and plays cello (beautifully, to my ear). I have encouraged him to learn bits and pieces of this musical monster. How could I ever acquire the sheet music?

Maybe it was, but the second to last solo is Cliff's bass solo. Nearly everyone screws it up cause its really hard to play, so the fact that they nailed that makes it all worthwhile

I think that this is another time that prooves that "Orion" isn't an easy composition to play even in a small orchestra!
I've heard other covers. IMHO the best is from X2_bass where four young men plays on bass cellos. Even with solos! It's super-hard to play high octaves on bass cello especially quick solos like these.
