In case you haven’t heard this yet, the composer wrote the song just for Angelina, because he wanted to put it on his album, and all the songs on it are instrumental except this one at the end. I’ll bet before it’s over, you will cry listening to his solo at the end. It’s just exquisite! I think this is a great honor for Angelina!

He is a russian composer and this was the only song with lyrics on his last instrumental album called Melting i think it was . This was a very old poem from Robert burns and nico made music to this old poem.

I CANNOT believe it, but just a few minutes ago, I heard Angelina Jordan sing the 40-year old classic by Gloria Gaynor called "I Will Survive," when Angelina was TEN years old in 2016! Couldn't believe what I was hearing! This little queen of pop jazz suddenly shape-shifted into a queen of disco! PLEASE REACT TO THAT VIDEO, AND MANY THANKS! I think the title was "Angelina Jordan I Will Survive (2016)." And I loved this song as well and your reaction to it! First time hearing it, and noting it in my favorite songs list!
I remember the first time I listened to this song. I was in shock at first, because I didn't expect to listen to this genre of music again. It reminded me of old classic and epic love movies I watched way back in my younger days, way back in the past. And I don't think any singer out there could sing this song as well as she does here. I believe all of them would not know what to do with this if they were given this to sing the first time. It takes an old soul. Thank you for your reaction.

This is absolute my favorite by her and the music video that accompanies it, is my vote for most beautiful music video. The scrolling of the ancient poem by Robert Burns, that is the lyrics enables us to understand what was written over 200 years ago in English that is far removed from the English language of today.

It sounds like something the Moody Blues would have done 50yrs ago. One of my favourite of AJ's.
How an 11 or 12 year old can innately translate into song the feeling of a man enjoying a romantic moment with his love in the field on a Harvest Night is magical.
Her interpretation leaves the listener to fill in the blanks with feelings from their own lives. Provides an interesting "Magic Carpet Ride" with the enveloping sceniero heightened by her evocative voice and enhanced by the orchestra.

Not many people react to this one. Thank you. This composer does music for symphonies. On his album this was the only vocal. His other things are phenomenal as well. And really showed how highly thought of Angelina is in the musical community.
That comment 'flippin mature' -spot on! :) Normally this isnt my first choice in music, then again i didnt realize that i liked jazz for some reason before i heard Angelina. This is a song that need to be heard over and over again, with good headphones. Its layer on layer, sounds yu may not discover the first times, build in waves. Noticing more and more the great combination of violin, piano, choir,etc and Angelinas wonderful voice. The lyrics are from an 18th century poem by Scottish poet Robert Burns. When barley was harvested back then they piled it up to form long ridges (old English "rigs"). The poet is remembering a youthful romantic interlude, between the ridges of barley. This song is haunting & ethereal and sounds like it should be in a movie track. Another genre for Angelina, but I don't know which genre it is.
AJ give the lyrics feelings and draws us in every time like no one else can. As I, and billions of others feel, Angelina is number one in the world of music.
This one is particularly special. A Russian writer put Robbie Burns' poetry to music. But he wanted a special artist and only her to produce the release. Which is why the "A" is Angelina.

First can you think of any other artist that could take this pome with this sound track and meld the words to it. I can picture others thinking what the heck. This is the first time anyone has heard Angelina’s voice. There is no inflection. There are no influences from any other genres. It is just pure Angelina. I do not believe any one else could do justice to his desires and he knew it.

Actually, i would go so far as saying that Angelina is surpassing herself.
Nico chose a modern English version of the poem in which some old Scottish words would remain, whereas, for instance, the original key word rigs was voluntary changed for ridges, thereby provoking some debates among the purists.
I would add that the recording is impeccable.
The resulting masterpiece in Angelina's poetical repertoire is pure grace, elegance and beauty.

The melody is very unusual with intervals outside the norm. It has the feel of many beautiful Irish folksongs depicting romantic relationships.

Yes well when i first heard it i felt that it was a perfect song for Angelina but it was soooo different from what im used to BUT yes the more and more i listen to the song l loved it more and more ....lots of feelings and maturity to it .... i liked it to begin with and now i love it !!!!

I believe Cartosio based this composition on an old poem. And certainly gave it the right atmophere with the music. It's definitely NOT a cookie-cutter type of song ;)

It is the only piece of music on the album that is accompanied by a vocalist. The result is a masterpiece.
The lyrics of the song are adapted from the 1782 poem Rigs O’Barley (Ridges of Barley in modern English) by Robert Burns.

Angelina was so right for this song. But I think she is right for any song. She is so versatile. She can take on so many different styles and fit them so perfectly. For a great example of this, I always like to request the followup for this song is her next release after this "Above the Water": czcams.com/video/rpdHJJQAd9Y/video.html These two songs could not be more different, and yet both were written for her, and both are so very Angelina. (after all you have heard of her so far, you are not going to expect Above the Water)

I really didn't care much for this one first time I heard it, but it really does grow on you after a while. It sounds like the background of some movie love story...
This one reminded me instantly of "Marc Anthony & Tina Arena - I Want to Spend My Lifetime Loving You", which was on the soundtrack of one of these Zorro movies. The climax is similar (always loved that) and the warm tone of the singing. I played the music video from the dvd over and over again at that time. Angelina obviously here didnt need any duet partner, I feel she sounds like her own choir ;-)

In ways this is perhaps her best vocal effort - none however have been anything less than great!
Angelina has so many great performances unfortunately this imo wasn't one of them. I love neo Irish style music, in particular Enya or her sound alike Norwegian artist Aurora. However, I prefer that Angelina stick with what she does better than anyone--Everything else!!

Yes, the number of subscribers hes received has increased significantly since her first reaction to Angelina. I was one of those numbers. I'd hazard a guess that any Reactor who receives a subscription from an avid Angelina fan will have the same sort of success. That many Reactors do not attain this success suggests to me, either that they have not been discovered by Angelina fans or if they have, the fans for some unexplained reason do not like the Reactor. I keep reminding myself that whether I like a Reactor or not is of little importance. If I view their video and press the Like button it means exposure of Angelina to more people.

Dear Gitana, you got mixed up with your words this time but I knew what you meant. By the way, you need to learn like I did that we are still beautiful women with our glasses on. I have a man that tells me ALL the time so I wear my glasses every time he is around and I notice that other people don't ever seem to mind or give different looks. One thing is not clear to me, how did the Americans NOT RECOGNIZE her genius and gave her some FIFTH PLACE on the show ?? Mind was not enough? Hearing? Or conscience ?? ((I'm still furious (((
No one really knows who the 50 voters were or if they actually existed. If they represented the average female teeny-bopper audience, then they would probably not consider any singing to be exciting enough. And, if they did not really exist, an act would be chosen to fit into a Las Vegas show venue. This was not really a competition because they are comparing trees to toadstools. It is a "reality" show.
I don't think it was a contest really, they knew she wouldn't sign with them she had her own label ready to drop with her original music. Her Uncle said they even had a contract stating she was not going to sign with them or go on the road. More or less they wanted her to make the show a better show and she wanted exposure to the American audience win-win for both sides. Simon knew exactly who she was, he tried to get her on the first AGT Champion show but, her family said no that time.
Angelina can sing everythink even the phone book. High cultural stuff like this for a simpel guy like me dont work, so i have to say that this one comes close to the bottom of Angelinas songs.

I like your honest reactions! Now that you are a fair way down the Angelina rabbit hole, I thought you would have stopped trying to explain/understand/reason the phenomenon that is Angelina. It's better to just absorb, and be 'carried off'. But I guess that might be harder to do for a reactor :-)
I have to agree with the choice that Rusty made below. This song is so not what you would expect to hear Angelina sing, yet she does it flawlessly. I am going to make a slightly different recommendation though, and post the link for a version of the song with the lyrics added. There are so many young girls that just blow me away with their songs/voices lately.
