Fantastic work. It reminds me my mom sewing lots of these, to make our blankets and keep us warm when me and my sibilings were kids. Her love has no limits.
Back in the 70's I bought calico fabrics wherever I found it and chose color combinations to make designs on the quilt. I ripped the fabric in 5 inch squares after measuring and clipping the edge. Real calico is all cotton and rips straight. I then sewed squares with half inch hems in strips and then sewed the strips together. I stuffed the quilts with Mountain Mist and held the top to the bottom with a stitch and tie of rug yarn to keep stuffing in place while washing. Where the rug yarn is tied will also make a pattern. Great baby quilts and gifts. The king size quilt was hard to handle.

I still have mine. A portable singer or Kenmore. A real work horse but too heavy to tote around. I was also 11 so that machine is 50yrs old and still works.

It looked so quick and easy, I’m just not sure I could whip it up that fast without sewing my finger to the fabric or sewing in crooked lines. Does anyone quilt by hand any more?
You can always quilt by hand! When quilting started there were basically no sewing machines involved and if there were any, the pioneers and others couldn't afford them. I think the most beautiful quilts I have ever seen were sewn by hand. Knowing the love, dedication and time that went into them makes them even more beautiful ❤
My guesses areeee- something to imprint on a cookie/food, something to keep the shape of mittens?, something to hold milk, idk what the hearts could be? lol, and something to help iron? 🤣 I’m sure that’s wrong haha

Good FIRST machine for a child. I received my first machine when I was about 11 years of age. I wore it out.
I recently just got a new one. I had an old one for 6 years before my granny took it from me lol it is an old machine and still works
