  • Today we take a look at quite possibly the easiest to shoot spring gun that I've ever shot. The mighty Accumax!
    Many thanks to A-S-I for providing the rifle for this video.

      When it comes to how it shoots though it's phenomenal Mark.

      Hi David.
      The Armskon isn't the Accumax despite the similar/same stock as you've said. The Accumax is a springer that yes was designed with A-S-I's influence. Hence why there's zero twang (much like with Cometa due to A-S-I's requirements).
      The only similarities are the stock and the standard trigger which A-S-I have told Accumax to refine for their rifle. Still waiting to see if that comes to pass.

    Just wanted to back up f Dan on how accurate this gun is. First time with it shooting out to this range.
    45 yard through a 1 1/4" hole to hit 🔔 and bagged it on first shot. Bear in mind I'd just zeroed at 25 meters and just gave it 2 mil dot hold over. 🎯. .22 using a veyron 3-9 x 32 scope and Excite hammer pellets.
    It's about as simple as you can get and I love it.

    Hi Dan. what a relief it is to see a proper review of a proper airgun after watching some of that 'shot show' crap. They're obsessed with power and 'tactical', I tells ya! I mean, .. .72 cal?!! Anyway, fabulous review and my first thought was, 'Ooh, that's different, ..I like it and yaaaay, good for lefties too. I've never had a synthetic stock rifle, just wondering how 'plastic-y' it feels, because I feel I may have to have one of these at some point, because it seems like a good bit of kit!

    • @jeffslade1892
      @jeffslade1892 Před rokem +1

      I'd far rather accuracy to power. You need accuracy first to hit a rat and any air rifle will have enough power for that. How much power do you really need to kill a tin can?

    RWS Super Field perform superbly in all my guns from 3x BSA Ultras through Gunpower Shadow 2, AA S400 down to all 6x QB rifles 78/79/2079 all six on regulated HPA. Even my Webley Typhoon pistol loves them. You just cannot beat them for performance/value for money in my rifles.

    • @bigdansairguns83
      @bigdansairguns83  Před rokem +6

      Hi Brandon!
      Out of my experience with both I'd say the Express has the better trigger but the Accumax is more accurate and much easier to shoot too.
      The absolute worst bit of that video Brandon was when I was done and had the camera packed away I had a few shots freestanding at 42 yards and I'm usually a terrible freestanding shot.. but I had possibly an even better group than sitting down!

      How was that for a surprise! I wasn't all that massively interested when I saw the stock but when you shoulder it the whole thing starts making sense.

      Hold the sear in an engineers clamp to keep the correct angle and use a flat diamond plate. Polish not grind. If you get the angle wrong a sear may slip off the piston if the gun is knocked. Knife edge but like a good dinner knife not a razor. 😉

    Big Dan I’m a ‘Traditionalist’ and just a bit of a gun snob , but , I have 5 grandsons. Keeping my gallery out back interesting can be expensive.. I always enjoy seeing the affordable and (interesting to younger shooters) air guns as well as gems from the ‘top shelf’. You won't be disappointed by the Accumax, it might be a bigger gun than the Compact but it's even easier to shoot. They shoulder perfectly despite the odd looks and you can't complain about the warranty at all. Brilliant rifles.

      @@bigdansairguns83 I really like the compact express, as my first springer it was ideal, as it was easy to hold on target, and was very forgiving when it came to firing it. It wasn't touch sensitive in the least. I got good results right from the start. I am 5' 11" but it seemed perfect. I think that because it was lighter and smaller it allowed me to develop that artillery hold much more naturally then might otherwise be the case. Your review was spot on. The accumax looks like it behaves in a very similar way. I like the looks because it is not over the top . Some guns look a little too much like replica tactical weapons if you get my meaning. This one looks more practical and ergonomic as an actual air rifle. But the accuracy interests me the most. Although you are a great shot. It still looks like a good rifle for both experienced and inexperienced shooters alike.I going to have to save up my pennies.

      I'd genuinely rather review the cheaper stuff I find it's unfairly neglected as most are only interested in the latest £2000 rifles. It's not a loud rifle to be fair and I'm sure with a heat gun that barrel weight/glob/thing would slide straight off so you could fit a slip over silencer.

      I can matey I'd love to give one a look. I have shot the SR900S in the past but I'm not the biggest fan personally. It's a great idea and the new models could be improved compared to the older versions but they used to kick like mules and have nasty twang as the spring was in the tube right next to your ear.
      That said I'd definitely take a look at a newer one.

      I'd take this over the FX to be honest which i know may be blasphemy to some. The FX just confused me as I couldn't for the life of me figure out the thought process behind that cheekpiece. Even the power adjuster was designed to be as awkward as possible.
      Then the price! £1200?! It's nicely made make no mistake but there's far superior offerings at that money.

    Hi Dan, found your channel today and immediately lost 2hrs to it.
    At 47, looking to buy my first air gun as we've moved to a house in the sticks where rabbit is on the menu and rats are off the charts.
    This rifle looks like it's accuracy(minus my inexperience) at both target distances was pretty damn good....then...I came across your review of Remington Sabre from 3 years ago.
    As a newbie, is it worth holding out for the trigger tweak on this to bring it in line with the Sabre?
    Or am I comparing eggs with apples?
    Thanks for your very thorough and interesting content.

      The Sabre has a better trigger at the moment however the Accumax is definitely the easier rifle to shoot well even with the current mediocre trigger. For me I'd choose the Accumax and more so once the next batch are in. The only issue is that I don't know when those will be here.

    Statistics - it is only necessary to have n=6 so v=5 for good statistics sampling. More samples will not "improve" the statistics. I.e. you really only need six shots to work out the spread, not dozens of them. More shots will not improve the spread s.d. You could for example sample six over the chrono at any time during a shooting session. Shooting a long string over the chrono you will of course see a new gun warming up and settling down. After it has settled down is the time to pull off six sample shots for the spread s.d.
    Statistics is difficult, a lot of people cannot even pronounce the word. If you torture statistics hard enough it will confess to anything.
