The original stallion was meant for Kyle Harrison. He likes a 10 diamond topstring, so the topstring holes were spaced out to allow 2 middle diamonds instead of 1. I also think the STX website used to recommend a 10d topstring on some of their heads. I had the same problem with the topstring as you on the Stallion 700 (trying a conventional 9d), but I don't think STX is going to change it anytime soon. They also added the weird cut-out 7th topstring hole in the topstring hole which is supposed to give you more "options."

You're not the only one complaining about the center scoop holes, but I remind myself that if it doesn't have C-Channel I shouldn't complain too much haha

fun fact: i had 3 excalibur heads over the years. i still have an original one in black in my shed with a 5 diamond traditional i used when i started playing in college. i remember the x2 coming out, but i didn't care for it. i went with a brine edge after that.

Wide heads can be tough to string but serve a purpose!

yeah, those aluminum shafts were nice when you bent them into an arc. i used a big tree in my backyard to form it, lol
