I owned a 1980 Toyota Celica hatchback when I was 16. Best car I ever owned. This 79' is absolutely beautiful. I'll bet it drives as well as some newer cars. Thanks for sharing.
It had a true feeling of sports car, Only one car which I was able to drive with 5 speed manual, thanks to the high torque at low rpm engine, the way an engine should be, not 1.5 v-tech lawnmower. Mine was early 80 (Sept.79) had the same interior and exterior colors
The smooth low end torque of a two valve per cylinder in-line six is perhaps the most satisfying buttery smooth power band ever made in any configuration. It’s such a shame. They don’t bring this back with modern technology. They could get all the efficiency and power they want
Holy cow. My first car. Same color too. What memories. I paid 5600 in 1983 for the car. Bought it from Westbury Toyota. Then I put those cheesy louvers on the back window! But hey I was 18 and it was the thing to do. Drove it all the way through dental school. Thanks for the great memories
A '79 in light blue was my first car, but it was about 11 years old already with high miles when I got it. I was more excited about the MK2 Supra, but as a teenager, it wasn't my wallet and the MK1 was what I got. It was still cool, at least until the engine overheated and the block cracked. Only had it about a year. Looking back, I appreciate the details of it a lot more now.
This car was way ahead of it's time all 4 wheels disc brakes, mechanical solid motor also fast🏁 not the best exterior design but very underrated: last note mechanical sunroof get the F out of here 😂😂😂 but NICELY DONE 👍
1980 my first full year at Holloman AFB NM. Saw alot of Celicas .... Being at a fighter/training base most owned by fighter pilots F-15 AT-38B smurfs.. best I could do 76 Nova 2dr 350 .

You make me miss my 78 Celica... Same color combo, with a 22R.
One hell of a combo right there
A classic for real. Moms had one, but it was a celica liftback.

Super rare.
What an amazing design
I bet it's a 1979 based on the side view mirrors and the fabric.
Looks amazing, very clean. it’s cleaner than some 2020 cars in the Northeast.
I have an 84 supra bought from AL. Love it.
