    The yellowing on the verrucosum can be under watering, or from minerals in tap water/ fertilizer burn. (Like a calathea) I had mine growing in just dechlorinated water with a drop of super thrive while it was acclimating from import and it grew perfect (but small) leaves

    I wish tree fern fiber wasn't so expensive because I've found that mixing that in with my aroid mix and with my moss for any moss poles I have works WONDERS for my plants, *especially* my thirstier plants such as my crawlers, anthurium and things like the verricosum. It just seems to give the best ratio of moisture to aeration for the roots in the pot and the roots in the poles. When I have it iny poles I usually mix it in with the moss and sometimes a bit of perlite ❤

    Have you seen the plastic folding moss poles from Rosseau Plant Care? They open in the front, which seems to offer better access to make changes to the plant.
    I've never tried one myself. I just found their channel today. They actually make the product themselves so they can make changes as they find the need.
    They look more difficult to assemble, but maybe the benefits make it worth the extra time.
    Just curious about your opinion.
    🌻Thank you!

    Yellow edges on older leaf could be due to fertiliser salt excess in soil mix. At least that was the case with my philodendron moonshine. If you find some o reason, kindly let us know. I changed my soil mix and now I am getting leaves with no issues.
    And place your moss pole in the exact center of pot and manage roots somehow in lil space left. That way it will never be wobbly. Also another thing I do is I fill bottom third of pot with leca. And my moss pole sits in Leca and not the soil over. That way you can freely water your pole without worrying about overwatering your plants. So I can choose to water aerial roots and not bottom roots. And vice versa.

    • @EverythingPlants
      @EverythingPlants  Před rokem +1

      I will definitely keep my eye out for any changes.... I still feel this is an underwatering issue

    Hi Jeff . Philodendron Verrucosum doesn't like to be on dry side. I never wait to long for watering. I found that when I got him that he like to be in moist soil. Because of trips I had to cut him and with me being busy , it's growing in the water and doing great. I need to get fertilizer which you are using. Your plants are just gorgeous 😍

    I like the clear thiccly poles too. The only poles that I’ve actually had moss stay moist enough so that the plant’s roots have grown into the moss. I’m a Make the pole and stuff the moss into the top with a chopstick kind of gal. I have trouble fastening the tabs when the moss is in the pole ahead of time. Glad there is a couple ways to achieve the same goal! 😊. FInally, tried extending the poles on my dark lord. Worked like a charm!

    So what are your current thoughts on planks vs plastic (moisture retaining) moss poles? Do you feel planks are easier and give adequate results for sizing up, but the moss pole might produce slightly larger leaves in the end? What would to tell a helicopter plant parent vs a more laid back plant parent?

    • @EverythingPlants
      @EverythingPlants  Před rokem +4

      Planks are definitely easier to maintain but only a few plants truly latch on to the board..... Pothos being one of them. Now for my philodendrons, they never really attached to the plank. Now since transferring them to Moss, they have definitely upsized the leaves and grew their aerial roots into the moss. So one is not better than the other in my experience. It just depends which plant you put on them

    G'day Jeff 🙋🏻‍♀Really enjoyed this vid and the THICCLY pole demo. My favourite part was at the end when you said "...I dont know where I'm gonna put it...!" That's me ALL THE TIME 🤦🏻‍♀and it's getting to the point where my fam bam are noticing and saying "You sure you got enough plants there?!?!?!?!?!?!" So will have to re-arrange my space ( sadly I don't have a big house with a basement or double garage) to maximise the 'real estate' and lighting situation that I do have 😬 But will look into these poles and maybe try them out as there is a version of these here in Syd now 😅
