Good video. I would make sure to select "Filename" after typing in the search term in the search box. That will search only filenames. If you select "Everything" when searching, it searches inside files as well, so you may get results where for example Logitech has written "Illustrator" in one of it's config files for their keyboard settings. This you want to avoid deleting. So choose "Filename" and in the search results, click once on each file and check the file path so you don't delete something important.

Thanks for the tips! I noticed when removing boxcryptor I had to delete each component in pairs or individually, could not select all and drag into the trash.
THANK YOU FOR THIS! May I ask for an easy way as to how to find some other files that would be "missing" their application because I'd deleted their application years ago and don't remember the names of the apps at this point?
not any easy way for this, simply look at Aplication Support folder, LaunchAgents and Preferences in System and User preferences and clean it up

So even if AppCleaner lists all the other associated files, we should still double check that they are not used by other apps before deleting?

Can you make a video how to delete a Apple application the right way... It happened to me: I wanted to upgrade Safari so I deleted it but the new one didn´t worked at all, so I wanted to go back to my ols version ... mmm ... it was imposible to make it run again!! So I have no Safari to navigate the web ... grrrr ... Thank you for your help Morgonaut !!!

@@morgonaut ok, but I never trust upgrades with my Hackintosh as you never know what will happend after that ... but the question is can Safari run again on my OS or better: forget it?

If you have the app on the dock, press control on put the cursor on the app. Look at options and press quit then uninstall like it says in the video!

thanks for this gr8 info, I did it and it works good BUT I faced a prob // some folders its not allow me to delete them // can u help with that plz / example I did the search for folder name ( fat ) I did the steps that you mentioned it ( search - click on the + - system are included ) some folders are gone and there Is more but when I select them to delete there is no option to delete them !!

While checking the storage capacity and space available, I see so mention “system data” in the whole utilised space section and it is pretty large and I am not able to clear it any way…

When I follow the procedure as per the video it's showing up a lot of files that are of use to me and have the same word of that of the Application. What to do in this kind of scenario.
P.S. The application I want to uninstall is Origin and over there a lot of word and pdf files that have the 'origin' word in them are showing up, which I don't want to delete.

1. Move AnyDesk from the “Applications” folder to Trash
2. Delete the (2a) ~/.anydesk/ and (2b) /etc/anydesk/ folders for standard AnyDesk clients
3. Delete the (3a) ~/.anydesk-ad_/ and (3b) /etc/anydesk-ad_/ folders for custom AnyDesk clients
I want to remove anydesk.. so the first one (2a) is done, I remove all data
- but how to find (2b, 3a, and 3b)? when I type it on "Go to:" no one showing
or just remove the 2a is absolutely done?

I followed your steps, but on my mac it deletes everything but when it comes to system files, it doesn’t allow me to delete them and keeps making the error tone (like the system is telling me these files cannot be deleted)

I do the system files method as well. However, in my instance I want to uninstall Chrome. Also note that typing chrome and google chrome gives different results. So in the chrome method associated files include pdf and javascript files. It makes it a bit complicated as I can not just drag everything to trash. Is there a way to directly remove the browser and its contents avoiding other "associated" files with out harm.

I am trying to uninstall Kaspersky anti virus 2021 from my mac which is running Mac OS BigSur version 11.6. I tried all methods and it says it is locked and it cannot be uninstalled! what do i do? can you help!
don't forget, some really crappy software will spread sh!t across the whole system, so best way is not to install it at first place. And then keep your installation always as clean as possible, make snapshots, bootable clones etc. so you can return back to any state in time before installing such crap
Please advise for how not to accept update for some Apps which I never use and will never use?

@@morgonaut Thank you angel for responding promptly, on my "apple store" of apple icon(top far left) messages like 2-3 update for iMovie, keynote, grammar, keep on coming which are not relevant for me. There is no way for rejecting them, except for what you have suggested. I am a senior citizen of 74 year not good with technology get into panic what might happen if I don't update. So I should let them accumulate! Incidentally, I stumble on your site for the first time and was able to delete two apps. Thanks a million for the help, I have added you on bookmarks
it shows updates only for apps you have installed. So it's good idea keep your apps up to date. I don't know why you want those apps to be old and vulnerable
@@morgonautThose apps came with the computer, installed. I don't have any idea about their vulnerability, just keep on updating more space of my hard disk would be consumed. Many of these apps are not relevant to my use. Again when the update comes, is there any way I could say "not needed" or just erase those updates, they are annoying to say the least. Thank you.
darling, don't overthink it. Simply keep it updated. And if you so much wanna get rid of some apps then get rid of it. But don't get rid of system apps
