Battlefront 3 Legacy - Coruscant

- Hello there,
this map/mod has been in development since 2016 and after taking a few breaks from working on this project I've recollected myself to finish this mod. Thanks to the great support of our fellow developers and thanks to Shaymin for continuing the project, this mod for the classic Battlefront 2 will still be worked on during the upcoming months.
Finally Battlefront 3's Coruscant now comes with all intended lighting, shadingsas well as many more additions and details to get the maximum potential out of this lost but never forgotten version of Coruscant battle made for the Battlefront franchise.
The animations, weapons and units are up to be changed.
This map is part of an upcoming update scheduled for the near future.

the scale of it all is insane. seeing the ship fly through coruscant, and then dive lower to see landing pads, and lower to see people fighting on the platforms was insane.
An update from you always makes my week. Battlefront 2 was one of the best games of my childhood and was infinitely replayable.
Still is.
The fact that you can now actually _see the ground_ from space makes this *so* much better than it was for years. Kudos to the workers of this mod!

I keep coming back to this video and this is BY FAR! the greatest looking map ever in Battlefront 2 and any Star Wars Game Period, Free Radical really did a great job capturing every single detail of the city and you and Shaymin/Iamastupid I think did too putting it in this game, and it's incredible how Battlefront 2's Zero Engine built in 1998 can even render this.
I appreciate that a lot. I spent some good time improving what was given by FRD, specially in designing new buildings, smaller props and the general editing when implementing all these assets. Thanks to Shaymin for convincing me the importance of glowing lights (applying a glow texture to tons of surfaces). The map now is finished with all things being implemented. When the space section is reworked this map would be ultimately done.
@@El_Fabricio U the man! You just added more life to this game and revived something so great many Battlefront fans would never get to experience if it wasn't for you. Once this mod reaches it's full completion I believe it can easily top EA's battlefronts as Free Radical has implemented truly interesting concepts for a Battlefront game that wasn't delivered in the reboots.

Have been sliently watching these updates for years. I look forward to when this comes out. Starwars has needed this for a long time. I may even do a thing with my current buddies and play it with them when it does. It'll be just like when I was little.

Amazing! You know what would make this mod more immersive? A campaign or story.
They already have planned a campaign for this mod, that would be just scrapped Battlefront 3 (aka Elite Squadron on PSS/NDS) story about clones of Rahm Kota's former padawan - Falon Grey.
The game of the century if only I could get my hands on this relic.
The long-awaited moment will be when the mod reaches its full completion and is playable in Online Multiplayer like its previous versions.

Thanks for changing the map to be set in night time instead of day time like it was a few years ago! Everything looks so gorgeous now that all the bright lights stand out more against the darker night environment. I remember back then the only custom city maps for SWBF2 were Coruscant Streets and Nar Shaddaa KOTOR2 and they all looked flat/fullbright as if there were no lighting/shadows anywhere, this on the other hand blows them out of the water, like it's a brand new game.

Played the old mod a few years ago - I still have it, just don't have it active - could never get it to work in space, it always crashed. I hope the new version fixes whatever bugs were in the last one.

I now like to look back at your channel to all the previous versions of the coruscant map and how a long way its come and I look at the Beta 1 and Beta 2 versions and compeletely forgot about the broken screen getting wiped away hud effect that was taken from the blood wipe hud effect in Republic Commando and I think it's better to not have it. It just doesn't make sense phisically wise even though it looked kind of cool.
Yes! And I also like to think that as you were making this map all those years, you kind of partook in the history and developement of the amazing planet called Coruscant with you and your contributors putting all of those buildings together like a digital construction worker. 😄
We really where robbed of one of the best star wars games...

This looks like Luke Landwalker's Unreal Engine 4 Portfolio from a few years ago. I Wonder if this was ripped from that.
Both use the original battlefront 3 map from FRD.
Everything else is either added by hand or is the result of redesign.

I gotta say I love the Redisign if that's the case, someone here even said the mod now looks even better than the actual Battlefront 3.
Redesign mods like this remind me of mods for the Original Halo CE that make the game look like Halo Reach or the SPV3 Mod that tremendously updates the graphics and pushes the engine to its limits.

U guys doing more fir a near 20 year old game than ea does for their own star wars shooter. At least someone cares about star wars enough to keep even the oldest games alive!

No because galactic contention is nothing like bf3. legacy is reimplementation and recreation of the original battlefront 3
@@battlefrontarchives Galactic contention uses the same coruscant map as bf3. and you can't get even 20 players to play legacy. so what's the better option
@@Brandon_Y. First, their coruscant map is using bf3s however they completely changed the layout and basically basturdized it. Second The gameplay is nothing like bf3 or any battlefront for that matter it’s a military shooter not an arcade shooter like any of the actual bf games. Legacy serves a completely different purpose. It is not a good comparison
