- The "Yutani" of "Weyland-Yutani" has long been shrouded in mystery, but Alan Dean Foster's recent novel, Alien Covenant: Origins has shed some light on the character and the deal that created the mega-corporation as we know it.

Ken Watanabe for Hideo Yutani
MackenDeez not bad, but I think he's not old enough.
LifeInTheOrient Hollywood can make anyone look older or younger they are. My other choice is Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa he's definitely old enough to play Hideo Yutani.
Beat me to it MackenDeez! I concour!
Aargh! I had the same thought just now.
There's a closing scene in AVP Requiem where the Predators Shoulder Blaster is given to Miss Yutani. Even though the AVP movies are no longer canon, I still think it's a brilliant scene that explains where the spaceflight technology comes from during the 2020's
They are canon, and have not been contradicted.
@@probot6515 Nice
Thank you, I've been trying to find this reference again. I was sure I saw it somewhere !
Hiroyuki Sanada or Ken Watanabe would be decent choices to play the role of Mr.Yuntani
I was thinking the same thing.
Also Beat Takashi.
Always in favor of Watanabe
Michio Kaku as Yutani
Son Goku Ha, ha! That would work!
Yes!
Son Goku no.
Son Goku although he’s more of an actor than a legit physicist
he is an actual theoretical physicist, there are a lot of Scientists getting involved with public dialogue, considering many adults in the U.S. have poor STEM understanding, this is good thing.
I really enjoy your videos, each time you discover something new about Aliens.
Great work
The ending of AVP Requiem shows "Miss Yutani" receiving the predator weapon..
Hari Q Charles Weyland doesn't exist anymore, according to the new canon the Bishop android was created by and modelled after Michael Bishop, the guy who shows up at the end of Alien 3, and who is just a company scientist.
Ruben Castro thank god. Bishop was an amazing character in aliens and they stole what was good about him when they proposed he was the company owner in avp. It was an ok film at times but just horribly tacky and demeaning to the legacy it followed.

ali ray AVP has no role to play in alien.
Irkn AVP is not canon to Ridley Scott , or any one who will make another Alien movie , because they dont fit together
Like a few others here, I prefer the "Ms. Yutani" reveal at the end of 'AVP:R'. She's handed the Predator weapon, which at the time I assumed they would reverse engineer the technology and hasten mankind's journey to the stars.
imagine the new predator movie takes place after avp:r, the way the trailer looks, it could be.
They should definitely work this into the next Predator film. Imagine a Predator film set in a Blade Runner like Cyberpunk near future (2020). Yutani Corporation would have started to use reverse-engineered Yautja technology from 2004, Weyland Corp would be around since 2012. The main character could perhaps be a bionically enhanced bodyguard or mercenary. This universe is still ripe for the picking.
@@frostyvenom8280 Predator: Concrete Jungle is a video game set in 2030. It has ties to Weyland, Xenomorphs and "MOTHER".
@@frostyvenom8280 once again thr fans know better than hollywood 😮💨
I thought for 1 second that was Hideo Kojima on the title. If Hideo Kojima directed Alien?
If he did then everyone would praise it but 90% of the audience wouldnt understand what the fuck is going on
Prior to their deaths either Toshiro Mifune, Mako or Ken Takakura would have played the part incredibly. Now, perhaps, Hiroyuki Sanada or Ken Watanabe.
While I don't think he deserves any screentime, I would have the Japanese man from Inception play him, seems like a business-y type of person for Japan.
Great video Alien Theory!
I had always assumed that Weyland-Yutani was formed by a hostile takeover of Yutani, not the other way round, but this does make a lot more sense. Weyland's death causes a power vacuum, the company is sent into disarray, and an opportunistic buyer who isn't going to miss his chance to get one of the biggest companies in the industry under his belt steps in.
Yutani was in AVP when they handed the predator plasma caster over to her.
I think that was Weyland
Gary Williams They said Ms Yutani.. that could have been his wife/widow/daughter
You have a good CZcams channel...thank you for your work
I think "Beat" Takeshi Kitano would make a good choice of actor to play Yutani
Neil Price spot

No
when you're trying to sleep and alien theory uploades a new video.... god dammit man i got work in the morning
I thought Waylan did have a heir, she certainly called him" Father" on the Prometheus...
She got crushed under the alien ship
You forgot to mention a certain "Miss Yutani" from Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem!!!
Im
AvP isn't canon.
@@HOTD108_ Obviously that's not true. Where did you get that idea from?
@@Xenosaurian "Obviously"? It is a known fact that they are not Canon to Alien movies.
@@TeurastajaNexus I say obviously because it's been abundantly apparent for decades now that the Alien, Predator, AVP, and Prometheus properties are canon to each other. One would have to be deliberately ignorant to say otherwise. It's not a "known fact" that either of them isn't canon to another, that's just a myth that got traction among some members of the fanbase, but there's nothing to it. It's a completely unjustified assertion.
2:17 - 2:33 I was kinda expecting the plastic face guy who says "STONKS!" to show up here! 😄😄😄
Also, excellent channel and videos! :)
Great series!!! Thanks!
Your content is so good
I love these theories! I think you should delve into the histories behind the characters in the first movie...or have you done that already?
Hey man! I will insist that you made a in depth video of Alien 3 Workprint, there are some Vimeo videos going around, I was just reading about that they are 3 existing tapes of the Workprint, one with the numbers and other without it, they say the tapes are in bad shape, but someone out there is making a recut with the Workprint, I would really like to see a video like this on your channel, because I really enjoy your videos and work, cheers man! Keep this amazing job going. Pablo Robles from Argentina signing off.
Takeshi Kitano as Hideo Yutani would be amazing.
Wasn't there something at the end of AvP: Requiem? I know it's noncanon, but it was something. I do like the story, it's interesting and a nice detail to the world. Wouldn't be surprised to see Yutani about. Also, the great Allen Dean Foster at it again.
Yep, a Ms Yutani (I think) gets a Predator weapon given to her.
Joe Turner
They were setting up that the pred gun and presumably other pred tech help build the to future displayed in Alien franchise.
james paul - I never thought I would say, as AVP 2 was so crap, but I agree with you. Thankfully, I saw Bladerunner 2049 last night & it is the best film I've seen since Inception. I was worried it would be another Covenant mess but it was the exact opposite.
By the sounds of it, Scott didn't have that much to do with Bladerunner 2049, thankfully.
ptonpc bladerunner 2049 was good but I still prefer the original. nothing comes close to creating that atmosphere.
Great video bud. If you could do more weyland yutani corp videos that'll be great !
Indeed, thank you so very much man for telling us this, thank you so very much, and same to Mister Foster and everyone else who worked on this, same thanks to you guys.
Good job bro
I think Takeshi Kitano should play Mr. Yutani, Takeshi is a seasoned comedian/dramatic/action actor. I'd love to see him in the Aliens universe.
If they could have done this story in his lifetime, I would have said the late great Mako Iwamatsu(RIP). In terms of the right actor today, this may sound like a bit of a cop out, but I like the idea of it being Ken Watanabe. I think shrewd, calculating but quiet if you will is something he could pull off rather easily.
Nice video
Thank You 👏
What do you think about the appearance in the AvP movie? Maybe you could explore that as a follow up.
+Joshua Reed might be worth doing, still trying to go about handling CBW, hopefully some time soon
It's interesting to ponder if the Yutani side of the company may be more morally grey while the Weyland side is more unhinged. That could be an interesting subplot of a future story.
The Japanese dude from Inception should play Yutani....
I feel that they shouldn't cast/show anymore CEO's in the movies. From the beginning Alien-movies have been set as down-to-top stories. Showing the grunts, not commanders, doing what they are ordered by some anonymous higher pay grade entities. We already had one CEO (worlds most important, wealthiest, famous) featured prominently. Having second just as the previous one died, would start to feel like Alien-setting is just a stage where big boys come to show their desires and fantasies.
That said, the grunt-feel from the old Alien-series is almost lost anyways. The new series is vastly different, scale is bigger, stakes are bigger and there is much more of this top-to-down feel. No more of this "let's just survive this and blow that Alien out!" which is a bummer, i have to admit.
Still, featuring one CEO was enough, second one would be forcing it. And another thing, it wouldn't fit the description of the Hideo Yutani's character. Always acting from behind the scenes and staying in the shadows, complete opposite of Weyland. So in that sense, there is little reason for Hideo go adventuring across the galaxy searching for aliens.
Excuse the typos and grammar, i just woke up and english is not my native tongue :D
Hideo Yutani was the Mack in the back.
Randall Duk Kim as Hideo Yutani. The guy who played the key maker in Matrix.
The two combined CEOs is...……..quite glorious. No one seeks glory anymore.
This deepens the Alien universe and shows in some cases (peter Weyland) humans are worse than any Xenomorph could ever because at least Xenomorph's are true and honest to their nature
"Predator: concrete jungle" video game. Pretty sure Yutani Corp. are the antagonist. Not sure if that's cannon at all though..
Using the canonical hierarchy rule, if it's not heavily contradicted by higher tier canon, it's canon. The game is not contradicted by any other media, so we can rule it as a canonical event.
I would propose also Hiroyuki Sanada and Ahn Sung Ki for the role of Hideo Yutani.
in my opinion Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa would make a great Hideo Yutani
Weird that I reject the AVP movies overall but simultaneously accept Weyland’s death in the first AVP as canon
Peter Weyland dies in Prometheus.
@@benwinkel No, Peter Weyland, his descendant, does.
Well, that's how I treat The Predator. I ignore it but acknowledge it as canon.
Ken Watanabe as Mr Yutani and Tao Okamoto as Jenny.
Do you know where I can get the books
Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa as Hiro Yutani
The guy who played Cassandra's dad in Wayne's World 2. That guy.
This sounds great. Now i need to find and read Origins and enjoy more Alien universe. I must have missed it. Did it come out last year? thanks...et carter
It just came out last month, brand new!
Thanks, AT.Fabulous news. I have Alan Dean Fosters Covenant and Scotts Film, and i am enjoying pouring over them as a hobby. I appreciate your channel, work, and news, Alien Theory. cheers///et carter
What is that music you use in the background of your videos?
“ Siri what is the name of this song ”
I think Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson would be an excellent choice to play a hypothetical Yutani in future films
Takeshi Kitano as Yutani.
AT: "If we would be able to see Hideo Yutani, who do you think would be the best suited to pl-"
Me: "Ken Watanabe, Ken Watanabe, Ken Watanabe, Ken Watanabe."
Do we have an approximate date of Yutani's merger with Weyland Corp? I believe Out of the Shadows dates it as 2099, however it suggests that Weyland Corp absorbs Yutani Corporation.
Yeah, a lot of contradicting info definitely. The 2014 book Weyland-Yutani Report I believe outright says that, but both sources are now contradicted by this new novel with Yutani buying Weyland.
Yuji Okumoto from Karate Kid 2....excellent actor. Or Harold Goulding from Crazy Rich Asians.
What exactly did Yutani make, from what i read in on of the comics wasnt Yutani known as a ship builder
an item you didn't mention, and maybe it wasn't because the Terminator is not canon with the Weyland universe was the fact that in Terminator Genysis the last scene was an underling presenting a Ms. Yutani some Terminator parts after the final battle. one other item was that there was another Weyland (Bishop) human, not an artificial person after Ripley. You can see his left ear was almost knocked off of his head and it was blood red not milk white and it one vew he was in pain and guarding his ear. I know someone will say "oh, he was a new model Bishop with new red blood." BUT! Call in Ressurection was a synthetic with white blood so there it is AFTER alien³ synthetics still have milk blood.
Thanks for listening
(I'd still like to Boomkamp's alien 5)
I believe Ken Watanabe would be good for the role.
Ken Watanabe, he can have something similar to Mr. Saito's role in Inception.
I would love for Takeshi Kitano to play as Yutani.
Could you please make a video on the Top Ten BEST Xenomorph-inspired creatures?
Grady Adair there's not even ten made in series
I thought Yutani made the Yutani heir clear at the end of Alien 3! He failed to use technology that would safely remove the "alien queen" in Ripley (only expendable crew for Wayland-Yutani Corporation to get their hands on the alien for a weapon idea -- for sale to what military at the highest bid?)! In Alien 4 (Resurrection) the Wayland-Yutani Corporation had been bankrupt or militarily taken over in the 200 years of "military cloning sciences" in that make-shift (not approved) mother ship outpost (as seen in the Alien 4 movie)! All that was explained in the Alien 4 "Resurrection" movie; as, Ripley's team departing comments inferred hiding on earth as a huge wasteland for plenty places to hide as the "military who took over the Wayland-Yutani Corporation" investigated the results of that movie's outcome! The Alien Quadrilogy leaves us hanging on "who is in charge of that new military organization" that funded that research ship of the Alien 4 movie!!
Yutani in avp requiem
The only famous japanese actors at +45 years of age I can think of are Takeshi Kitano (Zatoichi, Battle Royale) and Ken Watanabe (Last Samurai) and maybe Hiroyuki Sanada (Lost) and George Takei
I think that Takeshi Kitano (the corporate protagonist from Johnny Mnemonic) would be a good method actor to play Yutani. Might give it the star power it needs without it being overbearing on the universe.
My first thought was Takeshi Kitano..........
Do a video on zeno-zip (xeno-zip) the drug in the books alien asylum alien Earth hive?
Jackie Chan needs to take that roll
666th like, Illuminati confirmed !
Seriously though, been enjoying your videos, you offer an interesting take on specific details of the Alien Universe, thanks man :)
Meh, I like the dynamic mentioned in Alien Blackout, with the Company being jointly run by a Mr Weyland and a Ms Yutani, which hints at the Company's leadership essentially being handed down over the generations, like a corporate monarchy (or rather diarchy)
Since Weyland's TED-talk was cut from Prometheus I have zero hopes of seeing more of the corporate world in the Alien series :(
I've been wondering what the current canon of alien is. There's been so much content over the decades the series has been around, but there's no official canon as far as I can tell at least. For example are the video games (isolation/colonial marines) canon, what about the novels, the dark horse comic books? What about all the AvP stuff is any of that canon?
@Alien Theory I have an idea for a new video. Why not doing episode based on all the different strains of xenomorph as we all know all the amorphs change in every single film and comic some are based on different DNA aspects from different hosts but why not also make it so that the human born strains come from different Queens maybe? maybe each Queen lays a specific strain of Xenomorph?
I think Takeshi Kitano should play Hideo Yutani. Him or Ken Watanabe.
To play his daughter maybe Lucy Liu.
Definitely Ken Wantanabe for Hideo Yutani
Is Yutani's daughter the woman at the end of Aliens vs Predator Requiem?
Nope. That happens almost a decade before this merger. And besides, those films are practically non-canon in the Prometheus Alien Covenant timeline.
@@alexandersison2030 They aren't, they just aren't relevant to the story.
- Ken Watanabe (too obvious, I guess)
- Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa
- Hiroyuki Sanada
- John Cho (Ha ha! Just kidding.)
- George Takei 🤭
Sonny chiba
Sonny cheeba only man who could play him
@Alien_Theory None other than an amazing Japanese actor by the name of Hiruyuki Sanada! Who I think is similar to Yutani, in the sense that, he, too, is a very underated talent, who dodges the lime light, stays under the radar, and likes to let his action's results, speak for themselves.
Wouldn't Yutoni be a silent partner!
Given that the idea Yurani has been canon from the start, it's perfect for roping in the asian market for a new film. An asian star would actually work perfectly.
Hideo Kojima for Hideo Yutani
Just might happen negotiations with Michael Fassbender and katherine waterston for alien covenant sequel as tv series fx happening
Ken Watanabe or Hiroyuki Sanada
No living heirs?? I thought he had multiple children according to Vickers.
Hiroyuki Sanada or Hiro Terada can play Hideo Yutani. 🙏🏽
Following the "Star Trek: Into Darkness Mess," the Brit actor, "Benedict Cummerbund" could slip into the role, like that less-than-part-Japanese actor in current "47 Ronin" thing. (If makeup could "de-age" Tom Cruise, another flavor of "Hideo Yutani" could be shoehorned in place.) "Warner Oland," anyone? (Get that, that "backgrounder" off the set! "Philip Ahn"? Who's that?) I wonder what "Daniel Dae Kim" is doing after "Hawaii Five-O"? "Japanese Zero pilot #2," Soon Tek-Oh from "The Final Countdown is a tad too old? Marc Hayashi from "Chan Is Missing" and "The Karate Kid II"?
Still no mention of his dad, Charles....
It's been said before but Ken Watanabe all the way...
A good second would be Sonny Chiba😊
Obligatory nomination of Ken Watanabe for Yutani lol
I think Chow Yun -Fat would be perfect for the part
Pearce is fantastic as weyland 👍
Let them fight from Godzilla would be perfect
So it wasn't till Weyland that this company went Dark side of the Force if there's such humble beginnings.. begs the question of when the company learned of and developed it's Xenomorph fetish and knack and trend of evil doing the likes of which have only been matched or beaten by a few like Umbrella Corporation
Ah the head of the company the main man the boss that should pay me more for this crap
char4ly I’m not sure even you can survive the xenomorph encounter
Spartan A111 oh yes I have lots of them
Someone with the same avatar as mine, what are the odds. Cheers mate.
I reckon Choi Min-sik would be an awesome Yutani.
