    My apologies for being late to this vid Mr. Sam. It's great to see you back with the boys, that's for sure.
    That orange sure is an inspiration for me. My oldest son has gotten his hands onto a 73 F100. Although he's had nothing but problems with it since he got it. The mane he got it from up in Oklahoma said it was "restored", which at this point has just become a running joke. Since that's the only thing that "running" about it. But it was his the first vehicle he bought with his own money. So about a year ago I took in upon myself, without his knowledge, to find and buy a rolling F-150 chassis. I also already owned a 96 5.0 HO engine and discussed it with the wife (Who's not his mother, she's his step-mother) and decided to give him that motor. So around last May, we sat him down and told him about all this. It's been awhile since I've seen a 29 yo man cry like that. But he's always going to be My Boy. Since I'm a retired mechanic, I've taken it upon myself to do a body off quasi restoration of his truck. I've got a pretty messed up back and am slowly losing the use of my legs. Not to mention that I'm in pain 100% of the time. So I told him I'm not sure how many vehicles are left in me. So now is the time for me to get this done. Although, unfortunately our house took a direct hit from an EF2 tornado back when hurricane Beryl came through. The house took a lot of damage and both my truck and the wife's Jeep were totaled. So now I have three vehicles that need a TON OF WORK. But hey, you are an inspiration Mr. Sam!! If you can get out and do all the things you do, as well as keeping up with Lawrence and the others. I think I can fix up my old truck, the wife's Jeep, and give my son a truck he can truly be proud of. Thank Sir!! From an old-ish redneck from E. Texas.
    Y'all be safe out there brother!! 🤠😎
    My apologies for this being long winded and any typing errors.

    Nice shop Sam, it reminds me of my shop back in the '70s and '80s. I use the lathe and the Bridgeport a lot. From 1970-73 I raced dune buggies professionally at Ascot Raceway and we built everything on our buggies from scratch including making our own torsion bars for our custom suspensions. I built all our race engines and gave the old Bridgeport a workout cutting cases and heads etc for bigger cylinders, higher compression, bigger valve seats, chambers, and ports, etc. We had so much fun doing this with my machine shop teacher in high school. I had one of the fastest bugs ever on the street it ran a 9-second quarter mile at 140 mph in a full steel body, full stock interior, bug, that was my daily driver. Had to rebuild it every 5k miles but it won a lot of street races. No one ever saw a VW go that fast. It paid for itself. I am 68 now and still have some corvettes but nothing as fun as all you have there in FL. I hope one day before I die I get to meet you all. Right now I am taking care of my 96-year-old father who is bedridden so I don't have the time I used to have to enjoy building my old cars anymore but I really enjoy seeing what you and Cleetus are doing. I really enjoy seeing his planes and airfield as I have had a pilot license since 1983 and love flying too! Thanks to all of you for making this old man enjoy life a lot more. Take care and God bless you all for sharing all this with everyone out here.

    The first one looks like a 530 Vannorman and the red one a 570 Vannorman. I have both of those running in my shop now. Setup is slower then the newer machines but still makes a beautiful cut. My 570 i have converted to a rotary indexable cutter with a external super slow feed (3 rpm on feed handle) makes a 50 ra cut on aluminum with the cutters. Never trust the table always level the machine and level each head !

    Brother Sam, don't use that phase converter. Use a Variable Frequency Drive and in addition to converting single to three phase you will have INFINITE speed control with just the turn of a dial. It's far less expensive and will last for years. It's the way to go if you need to have motor speed control in addition to the phase converter.

    • @goosenotmaverick1156
      @goosenotmaverick1156 Před 2 měsíci

      100% this.
      The phase converters work, I've used a few for equipment in a commercial cabinet shop (rural area, no available 3ph at all, not just cost prohibitive, but flat out non existent in that service area, and prohibitively expensive to get the power company to set them up for it since they'd be the only 3ph customer in the area)
      But they're noisy, a separate piece of equipment to maintain/fail, which you get with a VFD but in a smaller package by far, with more usability, and more efficient.
