I had this for my PS2. I had to get it chipped, as it only existed in Japan IIRC. The previous Pride game was better though.
It wouldn't play on European playstations due to region locking. So you could get a chip in your PS2 to make sure it played all region discs.
yes that's because your PS2 isn't region free. Just google region free PS2 modchip.

当時、PRIDEとUFCのゲームの出来の差に何故か現実もPRIDEはUFCに追い越されるのではないか？と悪寒が走ったが…実際は追い越されるどころの話しじゃなかった
実際にプレイすると、あまりの薄っぺらさに1時間で飽きる
K-1のゲームでは、それなりの実況していた三宅アナの棒読み実況を聞くに本当にやっつけで仕事してんだなと感じた
UFCのゲームでは感じらた総合格闘技の怖さや迫力というモノが一切皆無の虚無ゲー
