I mean, not intending to be nitpicky but animation isn't really about money, it's about the amount of time the team has and to a lesser degree the size of their team. Considering though that family guy has one of the fastest and easiest to complete animation styles on modern T.V., I would guess that joke saved about about 15 minutes.
I'm absolutely certain they did that part of the joke specifically for people like us that upon him saying he was going to bounce it 40 times, we immediately started counting to see if it would actually be 40. The pause at 29 was to get us to at least thunk, "Hey, that was only 29 bounces...oh, okay, not done."
@@nardopol0 The point of it is to relate. It's SUPPOSE to be painstakingly long, if it wasn't long, you wouldn't get the joke of how frustrating it is to watch.
As a musician who came back from conducting class. I must say, Quagmire’s tennis match can be criticized, but you can’t criticize the fact that the ball bouncing exercise makes him the perfect metronome for my conducting exercises.
This joke could've been made way funnier. Show the expressions of the audience changing. Show the other guy getting himself ready to react, do an extreme closeup of the sweat on his head, his eyes shivering with focus. Show the referee just casually scrolling through facebook or something, show the ballboys looking at each other like "It's fucking hot, when will this guy END?and then the failed shot.
The episode’s running about a minute short, any ideas? What if Brian or Mort are also there and they have a brief story? Nah. What if Quagmire bounces a tennis ball forty times? That’s it!
This one is related to Novak Djokovic because he used to bounce ball that long, but not anymore. He also does not eat sausage and bacon or any meat, also has won US Open.
After bounce 15 you kind of lose feeling, you hear the bounces more, you start feeling your grip on the racquet... It's kind of how when you repeat a word many times and it starts sounding weird
Yeah, seems like family guy. They did all the bounces and started a second time. At least they aren't striking a channel the stole the content from this time.
The problem wirh family guy, is that when they crack a joke like " I was taught tk bounce the ball 40 times" you bloody full well know they're going to show you each and every bounce...
funny how later he says he would smash his rackets but since they didnt have more than one he had to keep using it but .. at 0:06 you can see 3 rackets
I wonder how much money they were able to save with that joke.
500000 bucks
enough

Love how everything else is completely stationary while his arm just bounces the ball
Not even a blink in the audience or anything else
i was about to say the same
Gotta reach that 23 minute mark somehow
Animation is hard man hahah
Well duh, they don't want to miss that 23rd bounce
its a cartoon

Who EVER said family guy doesn’t have filler ?😂
Who has ever said that ever
Everything has filler
@The banana named Henry yo wassup Harry, how my favorite banana doing?
When he hit 29 bounces I thought the joke was gonna be ruined but he kept going to 40
bro why did you make me count 💀 i had to see if you was right so i counted to see did he actually stop at 29

Halfass coordination between the writers and animators
Thats the joke. He says he wore the longest bagiest sborts. But in actuality he wore extremely short body tight shorts. Thats the point of the joke.
That’s the joke….
Glad they brought attention to this stupid thing tennis players do.
Wdym?
I am so unpretty 😭 When I go to the bank, they turn the cameras off. At least I am a big star on CZcams. So don't feel too bad for me, dear acr

They clearly having less ideas when they need to fill an episode with 40 ball bounces.
multiple instances of it
Theyve been doing this type of stuff for 20 years.
Most shows follow the rule of 3's when it comes to jokes. Family Guy however follows the rule of 10's.
@@nardopol0 The point of it is to relate. It's SUPPOSE to be painstakingly long, if it wasn't long, you wouldn't get the joke of how frustrating it is to watch.
It still manages to be funny.
"the longest, baggiest shorts"

That would've been so much better tbh, or just have something going on in the background that is kind of funny
Not a failed shot sir, the best possible shot ever made.
They aren’t funny like that
Im pretty sure they didnt do the crowd to save money
The goal is not to entertain but it is to annoy YOU the audience.
It’s what I love about Family Guy
Love how the crowd just waits for Glenn as he bounces the ball 40 times😂
As a tennis player i knew what it was gonna be from the title
As a non tennis player I also knew what it was gonna be from the title
I love how people are hating on the joke for being simple, and yet couldn't think of a better one themselves 😂 the timing is hilarious
Wow it was actually 40

Nah.

Wow this is poorly made joke “I wore the longest and baggiest shorts ever seen” his opponent is wearing longer and way baggier shorts”
Right

I like how the opponent became so desperate that he didn't care about losing his shot.

The longest baggiest shorts I ever seen in tennis for sure
What a way to pad out the episode's running time.
I Love Quagmire's Baggy Shorts. 0:06 😂
Literally did this to save money and then stuck in an ad at the end just got good measure.
As someone who plays tennis I can confirm we bounce the ball forty times before we serve
Yo good attention for detail 40 bounces exactly
Will you upload the entire Peter Rocky story too? Because I love that story.
I swear this whole episode is gonna be out soon, just on CZcams clips
Thats how im seeing it actually xD just the clips
When he paused and started again ngl made me chuckle a bit
this will go on if you let it
I genuinely find a lot of the "long jokes" hilarious.
Family Guy has mastered the art of turning a 10 minute script into a 23 minute episode.
What episode is this lmfaoo
Counted it, he actually bounced the ball 40 times.
I love this quagmire tennis story
“One day Glen, one day. Maybe your birthday.”
You know damn well everybody was counting that
"Silver! The Denny's is that way."
Yes, I counted. He actually does bounce the ball exactly 40 times.
What episode is this
“Time violation, Mr Quagmire”
Great serve
I ate the Grand Slam, I finished the whole meal, and it was delicious 😋
Someone should make a 100 hour version of Glen bouncing the ball
This is funnier than it should be
He bounces it a couple of times, with a repeat loop in the animation.
He stopped at 29 and then continued bouncing the ball to 40. lol
Damn those shorts
Can I consider Glenns attemped serves as baseballs equivalent to a balk?
Quagmire: **bounces ball**
Me: That was 29 bounces-
Quagmire: **bounces ball 11 more times**
Me: ...Oh.
Well, to give FG credit Quagmire did bounce the ball exactly 40 times
Welp, that’s 60 bounces we’re never gonna get back
Quagmire learned that from Djokovic
Damn it was really 40 times
I was crying when he bounced it 40 times just for it to be a let 😭😭
He really bounced that shit 40 times 😂😂
so is everyone getting a sports related episode
Oh my sweet corn jesus
They had me for a moment at 29 not gonna lie.

What's with the intentional JFK reference? Even the red brick building when the camera pans. Just a bit of casual trolling?
Yeah, seems like family guy. They did all the bounces and started a second time.
At least they aren't striking a channel the stole the content from this time.
So true! Players bounce the ball a lot
Before the 1st serve he bounced it 31 times
After the 1st serve he bounced it another 15 times
You aren't even close my guy, he did 40 on the first one and 20 before the second one cut off.

0:42 Huh, I guess the crowd needed a closer look.
You’re all getting grand slamwiches, they’re very popular.

They couldn't even get a consistant background
Djokovic strikes once again
He only bounced it 38 times the first serve.

Did he ever get to the Grand Slam?
Maybe that's the reason why now players have 30 seconds to hit the ball.
