  • The Tet Offensive was a series of surprise attacks by the Vietcong (rebel forces sponsored by North Vietnam) and North Vietnamese forces, on scores of cities, towns, and hamlets throughout South Vietnam. It was considered to be a turning point in the Vietnam War.
This is the first hand account of the men who were there in Saigon the first night of the TET offensive

Thank you Vietnam veterans far as I'm concerned the American Military never lost a fight and will give a special prayer to the ones that did not make it back home may they rest in peace. 👍👊✌

My name is Dick Barrett. I was drafted in February, 1967. After AIT at Fort Gordon, several from my unit were sent to Okinawa for dog training camp. Because there was a shortage of dogs we were then sent on to assignments in Viet Nam. I was attached to 716th MP battalion company B (Saigon) from August, 1967 to August, 1968. Anyone have same experience? Bless you all!

Our “allies” the South Vietnamese Government did not trust us. The agreement was that U.S. forces would be MP’s in Saigon. MP’s defended the city and assisted the U.S. Marine Security Guards to defend the American Embassy. These MP’s should be very proud.

@@OregonMinuteman Hi Mac, I seem to remember He was really nice guy; soft spoken and really unassuming; I was in Company "C" since Feb 1967, (I had about 20 days left when "TET" broke out Jan 31st) I spoke w/him briefly about my experience and what to expect in our company "C". I think TET happened within a week or two after our conversation. I believe he responded to BOQ 3 which was under attack. I never saw him again. I regret not knowing him better. He'll always be a Hero in my eyes. Sorry I don't have more information to provide to you. Best Always, Joe

Ironically the American Consulate now stands where the former U.S. Embassy was in 1968; I lived across from Phu Tho Stadium for three years (long after the war) and saw the bullet holes in the walls surrounding it. I also went to the spot where General Loan shot the communist infiltrator Nguyen in District 10 as well as many other war sites in southern Viet Nam.

The spirit never dies. You never lose consciousness. When the body stops, the spirit disconnects from the thalamus gland in the brain . the spirit is connected to the body through the thalamus gland in the brain and the spirit retains everything. The brain is only a transmitter for the spirit. The brain doesn't retain anything. The spirit can see, smell and hear without the brain. The spirit transmits through the thalamus gland in the brain to the eyes, ears , nose , nervous system. Please don't be offended. Im just letting you know your spirit and consciousness never die when your body stops. All memory is retained in the spirit
