3 words. Authentic Bulgarian Miak!
This was my line that got me into Ernest. Nothing compared for me otherwise.
Little did I know this movie would prepare me for the absurdity of horror and slapstick like Evil Dead II.
And "yeah".
I love this movie but I never could get Authentic Miak. I couldn't even find the cheap synthetic Miak either. I always thought it was a type of flavored yak milk candy when I was a kid just from the context, the name, and where the book was actually meant to say milk. Not sure but I've always wanted to try chocolate yak milk candy. :D
Btw, Happy Month O' Halloween, everyone at Cinemassacre. Thanks for keeping Halloween alive as I remember it as a kid.
I bet ya thought I couldn’t find any this time of year! Well, I’m a little too smart for ya just a little too quick for ya
Ernest freaking ruled! Jim Varney was such an underated actor. Gone too soon.
amen to that
Ernest deserves a lot of love... good to see he's not forgotten.
Martin Rosendahl I agree, I can't believe it's been almost twenty years since he died Namaste.
here's what's a real shame. all the stores i got to NEVER carry ernest movies. and during the holidays they never have ernest scared stupid or ernest saves christmas. if you have to buy them online then go that route if you must but i think stores should carry them. there's all these halloween classics but no ernest scared stupid? or with christmas movies there's all the classics, and they have newer movies, even such crap as a grumpy cat christmas(yes, sadly that's a thing) but no ernest saves christmas? c'mon! spread the word and tell everyone you can to watch ernest, especially these two for the holidays!
By far my favorite Ernest Movie of them all!
Jim Varney was a Legend amongst Men.
for my my favorite is ernest saves christmas but ernest scared stupid is a VERY close second.
One of my least tbh.
Darn right, on both counts 😎✌🏻!
@@Yukatoshi Why is "Ernest Scared Stupid" one of your least favorite Ernest movies?
The Misunderstood Assassin
I dunno. I just didn’t enjoy it as much as some of the others. It’s still a fun movie though.
"The plot is just Earnest fighting trolls." Earnest anticipated Twitter by 20 years.
yeah
Ernest* yah?
Mhm.
ok
Except Twitter consider everyone trolls who don't agree with their opinion.
Ernest: "Hey Vern, I want you to meet my new friend Jason Voorhees, he's a quiet fella but he's sure big ain't he Vern? Just keep him away from them teens and water and he's a sweetheart."
* Camera shakes back and forth frantically.
"He's just got a sweet tooth for slashin, knowWhatAmean?!?"
Know what aye mean Vern?
I hired him because of his big knife. Would help us clear out the brush in your back yard, Vern.
Ernest, the only person Jason Voorhees won't kill.
"Not even milk can stop me now!"
-Baddest bad guy ever
As a kid I thought it was over when he said that XD
Yeah
@Tea Jay But what you see in the mirror is
@Tea Jay Yeah pretty sure you got hugged the wrong way from uncle, sorry he touched you funny.
Drinking game:
Drink every time James says, “Yeah.”
*Dies of alcohol poisoning*
DA4CE People say I do the same thing saying "yeah" all the time. lol
yeah
Drink every time he says "the" or "it"
yeeeeah
Or "know what i mean?"
The scene where Earnest has had enough, and tells the troll to take on a full grown man is amazing. Jim Varney’s performance there still gives me chills, it’s definitely the most mature moments Earnest ever had. Followed by that hilarious waltz, I love that movie.
This made me so nostalgic. Our grocery story we went to when I was a kid had these 99 cent VHS rentals and I would get the Ernest movies almost every time.
The Gas and Git (Oklahoma lol) had all the Ernest tapes for a buck. Damn. That brings back memories.
same, fellow dan, albertsons in my case
My store was Shop ‘N Save, a small chain of grocery stores in St. Louis Mo. I just looked online and learned they all just closed down last year. It was just your typical grocery store but it made me sad learning they’re all gone now, it’s like I lost a small piece of my childhood.
My babysitter taped a marathon off tv. She had an Ernest film to shut us up with for every season😂
"I never knew when to quit. Just ask my fourth grade teacher."
He never knew when to quit. *Slaps ernest in the back of the head to stop nail scratching*
Teacher "he never knew when to quit"
young Ernest *scratches chalk board*
Teacher *smacks Ernest in the back of the head to bang his head on the chalkboard*
*repeats in film*
"Yeaaaaah" - James Rolfe
Whenever the other guy talks, James just goes "Hm Hm" "Yeah" "Hm Hm" "Yeah"
Ernest is so great. He was a great testimonial to keep doing what you love. He turned a commercial character into an icon. Rip Jim
"Yeah?"
"Yeah."
"YEAH!"
"OH YEAH!?"
"Yup."
Macho man ohh yeah
I think it was intentional
Indeed!
"And... yeah!"
YEaaaaahhhhhh
I still call milk miak to this day... And I'm 38 years old. 😆
Same here. My girls kid never knew why I called it that. Till I found this video lol. The trolls expression "miak?" "Yeah...looks at bootle, Miak!. Hahahahahaha
Me and a buddy were joking calling milk miak one day and nobody else got it 😆 I'll be 38 next month. Good times.
That is hilarious and awesome!
Yeah!
Me to. My girlfriend thinks im crazy
I love this movie so much. It is so Nostalgic for me, I saw it so many times as a kid. I always loved the parts where Ernest (Jim Varney) would dress up as other characters in quick cutaways and do his impressions.
yeah
"How 'bout a bumper sandwich booger lips?!"
i LOVE that part! i quote it all the time!
That line has always stayed with me, as well as the miak part at the school
yeah!
Love that quote. Wife and I use it often.
This has the most hilarious one-liners!
The yeah count is off the charts.
"Yeah" - James Rolf 2019
I honestly believe that if Jim Varney was still alive today, he would've been even more of a comedy legend than he already is by branching out and taking more diverse roles as he had started to do before his death. He would've reinvented himself as Ernest using the power of The Internet and he probably would've done this video with you all.....in character.
I love Ernest! RIP Jim Varney.
My dad showed me this movie when I was a kid. It's a total classic, been watching it every year since. Eartha Kitt is amazing in this too.
Kieran: “Yeah!”
James: “Yeah!”
Kieran: “Yeah!”
James: “Yeah!”
Patrick Damiani especially James. James said it multiple times in a row. Thanks for pointing this out I can’t not notice it now.
A lot of people do this in a conversation and don't notice but when you're on the outside its very noticeable :S
YEAH!
Yeah
Hilarious
I love the intro, a great way to pay homage to TNT's Monster Vision.
They brought wrestling back but not Monster Vision.
*"Let's see how ya like a little MIAK!"....."I betcha thought I couldn't find any this time of year"* Hahaha
Authentic. Bulgarian MIAK
@Django Fett I love the fact that even the troll gives him a WTF look saying "Miak ?"
@@justindenney-hall5875 i love that part!
@Django Fett Ernest "trolled" that troll LOL
Now with Vitamin R
This movie legitimately creeped me out when I was a kid...
ReplayStation Came to the comments to say the same thing. That main troll scared the bejuju out of me.
Me too!
"mmhmm/Yeah" verbal disfluencies,
Kieran- 67
James- 132
James Wins!
but seriously "...Goes to Camp" was my favorite Varney movie.
Kyle Hill is that an accurate yeah count?
@@mattghostly5261 yes, when used as a verbal pause. not times when it was used to answer a question. lol
I feel ike kieran started picking up james bad habit by the middle of the video. He was more normal in the beginning and then started yeah-ing it up while pausing and looking shifty eyed.
Ni K That's actually a human quirk. We tend to imitate peoples speech patterns, and quirks, to connect to the other person. And it is subconscious, so you won't even notice yourself doing it(most times)
@@SakuraAvalon True, but I think James was making Kieran feel uncomfortable with how disconnected James seemed.
Anyone else remember "hey Vern it's Ernest" on Saturday morning cartoons?
yeah
It's on CZcams.
"The art of Japanese Gardner *wack*"
That scene still cracks me up all these years later 😂😂
Hedge Clip Kido, the secret Japanese fighting art of Gardener
@@greglarson3048 I know Tai Chi, Kung Fu, Chow Mein, and I watched Hulkamania 3 times in Slow-Mo!
yeah!
I love how the new Monster Madness logo is styled after the old Monster Vision logo.
Same. A great homage. And I gotta say, the Monster Madness logos just kept getting better and better over the years. This one looks really classy. As good as anything TNT could pull off in 1994.
There will never be another Jim Varney. A brilliant physical comedian. Like a real life cartoon. Absolute legend.
Jim Varney was too good for this world
and unfortunately he passed away too soon. RIP jim.
Long Live Ernest P. Worrell
Long Live Jim Varney
@TheEVN7 maybe so, but he should NOT be forgotten! now go watch some ernest!
He was great as the carnie on the Sinpsons as well
A long time fan with my wife at the hospital cause of complications with her surgery and watching Cinemassacre is helping me get through this thank you 💯💯
WΛSTED TΛLENT some miracle worker
I hope your wife gets better quickly.
@@John-jn2lw thank you sir. She's also a huge AVGN fan. She was supposed to have a simple surgery to remove her appendix. But the stupid doctor punctured one of her arterys and she almost bled to death... So instead of what should of been 2 or 3 tiny scars is now a scar down her entire belly where they had to cut her open to stop the bleeding 😞😞
WΛSTED TΛLENT Oh my. That’s awful. Glad she made it.
@@John-jn2lw me too bro. Just keep praying for us please.
Ernest Scared Stupid and Ernest Goes To Camp have always been my favorite.
Goes to camp had alot of heart...
"what am i gonna do with a wooden dog?!"
What are you going to name him?. .Splinter?
Sure he swims better
That always made me sad
"How about a bumper sandwich, booger lips!"
Well said
I HOPE YOU'RE FROM KEIBLER!!!!!
I dont want fop godDamnit im a dapper dan man
one of my favorite lines ever
I'm from Bulgaria and I haven't heard of "MIAK".
Heh real talk, I’m 1/4 Bulgarian and I remember as a kid asking my Grandpa and my Priest if they had ever heard of Miak and neither had,
I also don’t know why I asked the Priest because he was Serb not Bulgarian but 6 year olds don’t make such distinctions. He his daughter still brings it up when I see her.
DONT RUIN THIS FOR ME
LaserfaceJones lol 😂
Stop hiding all the miak!
Lies! You just want all the MIAK to yourself!
Ernest's ancestors put the troll in the ground, not his descendants.
vosco zoozoos must have made a mistake
Yeah descendants come after, not before. What are you guys stupid or something? Can't believe you chose the wrong word. Jeeez.
@@bucknutty952 Relax, it was a slip of the tongue. Not like the one Ernest gave to the troll.
Yeah.
Forebear
Cinemassacre: hmmm, yeah
yeah
Yea..yea..yeaa...oh yeaaa...yea
I'm happy this classic is covered again. That the monsters were played straight made it even better. ^_^
I will always lament that Jim never got to work with Sam Raimi in the Evil Dead universe. Ernest would have fit right in.
EverDownward an Ernest/Rami joint is the thing that I never knew I wanted and can never have...
Ernest vs the Evil Dead
The background picture of Ernest looks like he should be in smash Bros
"Ernest scares them stupid!"
I'm gonna go make an Ernest Mii Fighter now
Give it time.
Yeah!
ERNEST STUMPLES INTO THE ARENA
When the troll took the doggy, it became time for VENGEANCE!
Ah yeah! The 80s/90s were great times. Hilarious creative movies, with a dash of lasting childhood trauma. 🤣🤣🤣
My parents made me watch Aliens with them when I was six years old at the time. Wholesome family video.
Shame the actor who played Ernest passed away, I could see him being interviewed on Cinemassacre.
I feel like James and I had the same childhood at times...this movie was my life.
The late 80s into early 90s were a beautiful time to be alive...
No social media, not really any cell phones, computers were fresh, movies were excellent. Ah, nostalgia.
Yeah...I feel the same. He's the same age as me (39), and we both grew up with a heavy love for sci-fi/fantasy movies, video games, classic rock, and old movies.
“Look out...Its a Troll Vern!!”
Vern was never a troll.
Unscripted causes a lot more “yeah” but I still love Monster Madness very much
James C damnit now that you said this all I can hear is yeeaahh
BALBOA yeah
BALBOA 😂 definitely, yeah
Yeah
Vic Jang Yeah?
The Ernest franchise is my guilty pleasure films.
i wouldn't call it a guilty pleasure. i'm a big time ernest fan and i'm proud. i always recommend these movies!
He had a Saturday morning show that was really funny as well
Both of you guys, talk about 2 of the more popular Ernest movies, but my #1 is always "Ernest Goes to Camp". That's the Ernest movie that caught my attention and I became a fan of Jim Varney. Both of the brothers (Penn and Teller lookalikes) were cooks, with an automatic dish maker, that just made junk.
I was actually in Basic Training for the Army when he passed away in 2000? I remember it was close to the December of 99' or January of 00'. Our entire barracks of 18 year olds like me, mourned a lot that day. A childhood hero to us. RIP Jim. You're memory lives on!
"Mhmm, yeah. Mhmm. Oh, okay. Yeah, mhmm. Mhmm. Oh, okay. Ye. Yeaah! "
yeah!
@@Tuning3434 Mhmm
I paused the video to read comments, read this one, then hit play to hear James say this almost verbatim.
Thanks for the subtitles
I remember when Ernest scared stupid was in a past monster madness!
It's the rerun edition. Only worse because not scripted.
yeah, monster madness just isn't the same again this year. just rewatch the old ones again.
I've been quoting Miak since the movie came out lol.
I never realized how much this reminds me of another childhood love- The Gate
True. This movie is almost like a family friendly version of The Gate and Troll.
@@Gatorade69 absolutely. I could never remember the name of the movie til RLM. I just watched it a lot as a little kid
*Damn, i had no idea this movie was good, i missed out in my childhood!*
*I did LOVE Ernest Goes To Camp as a kid!*
*How proud do you think Jim Varney is looking down today seeing people celebrate his unappreciative work 30 YEARS later!*
*We miss you man! Know what i mean?*
"Yeah." - James
Ernest lines I love from this movie:
"I never knew when to quit. Just ask my 4th grade teacher!"
"What good is having a wooden dog? Well sure, they swim better...."
"Yeah" total -- 153 ;)
Ernest is a classic character and Scared Stupid is a classic Halloween movie. I can remember going to the movies and watching this as a kid and it still holds up as great family entertainment to this day.
This is the only Ernest film I've ever seen, or at least the only one I can remember ever watching, it was on TV a LOT during the 90's. Enjoyed it even at a time when I had already been exposed to many adult horror films, tempted to watch again for old times sake.
One of the most nostalgic films from my childhood...*small tear splatters against the cold floor*
Drinking game. Every time someone says “yeah”, take a shot.
Good luck
Travis M yeah
If anyone tries this you're gunna need at least 11 fifths (or around 2 gallons or about 8 liters).
In my way to the hospital to get a new liver
This was my favorite movie as a kid. I got scared, but it was amazing. Thanks for covering it!
Rimshot's turned into wood!
Well at least he'll swim better...
Yeah but what are you gonna call him? Splinter?
By far the best Ernest movie. That bedroom scene scared the shit out of me.
That damn troll gave me so many nightmares.
ChocoftheCharts so do I
One of my favorite childhood films that no one talks about, thank you for showing it some love!
This movie will forever be in my heart, 4th grade early October mornings watching this before school when it's just breaking dawn.
Take a drink everytime James says "yeah"
Or "mmhmm"
132 shots
Ernest was a underrated comedian
"Have a bumper sandwich, booger-lips".
I remember watchin this as a kiddo! It was awesome and the troll was super great effects. Glad you did a review, it reminded me of this movie an that I should show it to the younger generation!
James, thank you for continuing this Halloween tradition; our family always watches Monster Madness every year ( and often re - watch ones from previous years ) so thank you so much for continuing this excellent series which we look forward to every October~!
“There’s a lot of killer brain movies. So, it took me a long time to find this one.”
😂😂😂
"The Brain From Planet Arous"
"The Brain That Wouldn't Die"
multiple versions of "Donovan's Brain"
"They Saved Hitler's Brain"
Am I forgetting any?
What a life.
“What did you do today?”
“Spent a few hours researching killer brain movies.”
To this day, I can't go to the kitchen for a glass of milk without thinking "pure bulgarian miak".
I remember seeing this in the theater when it came out. Varney was amazing and left this world too soon. Thank you for reviewing this and bringing back so many great memories.
Been waiting for you guys to do this movie for years. One of my all time favorite movies. I bet I rented this move a good 50 times as a kid and I loves Ernest. Thanks for the review guys.
R.I.P Jim Varney
James the whole time " Yeahh… "
Yeah. Mm-hmm.
Fantastic Monster Madness so far. Bless you James for still keeping it real after all these years.
Ernest: Scared Stupid is one of my favorite Ernest movies and one of the best Halloween movies to get you in the mood for it. Jim Varney started out during commercials and I still remember some of his that aired on local tv in my area in Texas and I also heard he did commercials in Oklahoma as well.
Did y’all have a contest on who can say “yeah” the most

The Importance of Being Ernest is the best Ernest movie of all time! Though it is a bit of a tonal shift...
"WAAH, I SURE HOPE YOU'RE FROM KEEBLER!"
Great videos.!! love AVGN and james and mike. the other guys are pretty awesome too!! xD I always expect the skeleton to have a more sinister attitude. LOL
I absolutely loved the Ernest movies as a kid. I still remember when my mom sat me down and told me that "Ernest" had passed away. I cried.
i watch that 1 on tv every halloween and its 1 of my very favorite halloween movies!
"Let's see how you like a little MIAK!"
Ernest is great and the new monster vision intro is even better! Keep it up guys.
Aw I love this movie. I miss Jim Varney so much. I wish I was born earlier to have seen his movies in theaters.
