  • The 5800PIR-RES is Honeywell's most popular wireless motion detector. As an effective deterrent against thieves who enter your empty house by breaking into or crawling through vulnerable, open windows, the motion detector provides an extra layer of security to ensure that your home is effectively protected against even the most clever thieves. In this video, Sterling shows users how to program the 5800PIR-RES into a Honeywell LYNX Touch L5100 wireless security system.

    My motion sensor doesn't trip the alarm. It's set to interior with delay, but it doesn't seem to work. I did a walk-test and it picked up my motions. Can you tell me what might be the problem?

    got a stupid question, why would you use installer lock out feature. I would not sell this device because, if my installer selects that, there's no re-entry to system programming.... side note* stupid the way Honeywell put it in like that, its always been an option, but much harder to make that mistake in previous versions.

    Spylahbaby C The motion sensor is a wireless sensor, so it doesn't trip for 3 minutes so it can save battery life.

    My dog is about 50 pounds and 18 inches tall. Will she set off the motion detector if set to alarm away?

    • @SterlingDonnelly
      @SterlingDonnelly Před 10 lety

      Carl Parj The motion detector should ignore a dog of that size. You should avoid having any furniture that the dog can jump on within 6' of the motion however.

    can it be used outside? like in a balcony, but when arm stay the 5800PIR-RES is working not off like the ones inside.

    • @SterlingDonnelly
      @SterlingDonnelly Před 10 lety

      It is not designed for outside use. The 5800PIR-OD (www.alarmgrid.com/products/honeywell-5800pir-od) is the outdoor rated Honeywell wireless motion detector.

      Sterling Donnelly ok, so I can program it as a perimeter in the response type and it will be working when arm stay?

    • @SterlingDonnelly
      @SterlingDonnelly Před 10 lety

      Yes, you can program it like a door or window to have it armed in both Away and Stay.

    Hi, I have both of the unit 5800PIR-RES and L5100. However the 5800PIR-RES battery went dead/low prematurely twice within 12 months of usage. Is this due to the PIR settings which may detect the motion too often?

    • @SterlingDonnelly
      @SterlingDonnelly Před 8 lety

      +Eddy Ann Yes, the lifespan of the battery will be affected by the way the motion is programmed. How do you have that zone configured now?

    • @eddyann2
      @eddyann2 Před 8 lety

      +Sterling Donnelly ok the pir settings are as follows
      Loop number 1
      Device type :motion sensor
      Response type :interior follower
      Alarm report :yes
      Chime: no
      Supervision :supervised
      The sensor trigger when armed but not armed stay. But during disarm, once in a while it sense when there is a motion/activity which trigger the lynx yellow status for a while (2-3 seconds). I thought it wont trigger anything during disarm?

    • @SterlingDonnelly
      @SterlingDonnelly Před 8 lety

      +Eddy Ann None of those settings seem like they are unusual or would be causing the battery to drain prematurely.
      Is the yellow status a fault or a trouble when it pops up?

    • @eddyann2
      @eddyann2 Před 8 lety

      +Sterling Donnelly the yellow status is the same like those window/door sensor (when open) with some green led flashing. After a while it entered green status again after 2-3 seconds. It just that it sense/trigger/detect the motion when disarm.

    • @SterlingDonnelly
      @SterlingDonnelly Před 8 lety

      +Frank Longo Ya, so it sounds like your motions are programmed and functioning properly so did you perhaps get the batteries from the same package/source? Maybe you just got unlucky and got two bad batteries.
