It means that the tea plant is China type. Basically in darjeeling we have China type and Assamese type of tea bushes. So the tea bushes u saw is of China type. Hope your query is cleared. And happy stay at darjeeling.

Dr. Camphbell was posted as a civil surgeon at Darjeeling in 1839. At that time there were hardly 20 families living in the entire hill tracts. In 1841, Dr. Camphbell brought China tea seeds from Kumaon Hills and planted them in his garden. The success of the initial efforts led the government to go for commercial development of tea gardens. Tea estates, with seeds from government nurseries, were developed at Tukvar, Steinthal and Aloobari. These were followed by other gardens.

'China' is written for TEA Bushes which are china variant. As because, the seeds of tea plants which were brought from China by Englishmen and planted in Darjeeling which ultimately gave a new and different character in to the Tea, therefore It is known as CHAMPAGNE OF THE TEA.

we started our journey from Goa to then we headed to Kannur, Vadakara & Wayanad and in last days we covered Ooty, Coimbatore (special visit to Adiyogi), Madurai and now we're here in Rameshwaram (Pamban Bridge) . . after Dhanush Kodi, we'll head to Kanyakumari then Kovalam, Trivandrum & Kochi (our flight way back to home).
