Nice Video!! Rösti is actually pretty simple to cook at home, you'll need: roughly grated (starchy) potatoes, salt and pepper (and maybe a little hint of nutmeg), and of course a lot of unsalted butter for panfrying. First you need to get rid some of the liquid of the grated potatoes, for this it's easiest to add the salt (maybe half to one teaspoon per pound of potato), mix the carefully by hand in a bowl, let it sit for 5 minutes and squeeze it out in a clean and odourless kitchen towel until as dry as possible. Then add the pepper and a little nutmeg and mix well, preheat a nonstick frying pan at medium heat, add around 1 full tablespoon of butter and gently add the potatoes into the pan. Try to form a pancake wich is 2-3cm thick and covers the whole pan. Let it fry on medium heat for about 15 minutes, then flip with help of a plate. Add more butter, since it's going to crisp up more evenly, and fry it for another 10-15minutes. The Rösti is done once it's nice golden brown and crispy on the outside and fluffy in the inside. Cheers!
I've been meaning to make one since filming this video! Thank you so much for the recipe and tips about the water too!! Will definitely be trying this :D Thank you
hello from Basel (Switzerland), great, another package from Switzerland, soon you will get the Swiss passport... um, no, you don't need it anymore, because if you show up somewhere with a can of Aromat, everyone thinks you are swiss 😜 But actually, you can find Armoat everywhere, even in restaurants on the table. Back to the Birchermüesli, apart from the fact that it is simply healthy, this is also a very good variant in summer, prepared about half an hour before eating (so that the flakes soak up and are not so dry), a few fruits ( such as strawberries, bananas or whatever else you can find) cut into small pieces and you get a refreshing snack in the afternoon (or at noon) when you're hungry but don't really want to eat anything substantial. Rösti, no Swiss menu plan is missing (have you ever realized how diverse potatoes are, they also taste very different when prepared, simply an ingenious "tuber"). There are 2 ways of preparation, yours is a Bernese Rösti (made from boiled potatoes), the other variant is the Zürcher Rösti, which is made directly from raw grated potatoes, in the end I would say the difference in taste is very similar (I don't say identical to be safe😛). Incidentally, the Rösti should be darker, even medium to dark brown. Good housewives (cooks anyway) get the rösti like a cake, with a nice crust on both sides (just missing a pork sausage with onion sauce or sliced in a cream sauce). You can easily make Rösti yourself, you don't need a "ready-made product" for that, they certainly taste at least as good. Boil the potatoes until done, let them cool, peel and grate, then put them in the frying pan and you're done (a little salt won't spoil the taste).Important, in some places abroad an egg is added so that the whole thing holds together; but not in Switzerland, the potato starch is completely sufficient for this. Gruyère, this region should have an international reputation for its dairy products. The cheese of the same name is probably one of the best we have (it is believed that we have over 450 different types of cheese). Above all, the high-quality milk from this region, which then results in the "double cream", which is hearty (caution; your figure is in great danger! 🤣), as described, is meringues together with the double cream a treat in itself.
Apparently we Swiss love putting our things in tubes and from what I was told online, so do Norwegians. And fun fact, both Maggie and Aromat have MSG in them! Since I'm also from Valais, I'm really glad she included those compotes, my favorite is the pear one, they're really good.
Ideas of what else to dip in chocolate fondue or place under a chocolate fountain: apples, pineapple, orange segments, bananas, pretzels, vanilla wafers, shortbread, pears, angel food cake, pound cake, pickles (jk), butter cookies, lady fingers, and your fingers (jk...maybe).
Such a great conclusion to this box! Those potatoes and fondue! 😋😋 and now that you mentioned marmite, I’m craving marmite cashews 🤣 those are my favs! Perfect little snack. I bring home so many packs when I visit. I sure hope that you both have been having fabulous weeks and that it continues right on through the weekend. Sending all our hugs and love always ❤️❤️❤️❤️😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘
It was a fantastic way to end the box indeed!! Oh my word! I didn't realise you were a marmite fan.... i don't think!? Thats awesome, I love Marmite too! I have never tried those cashews!! I'll have to keep an eye out for them. Hope you're having a fabulous week too and I hope you have an even better weekend! Love and hugs to you all 💕🥰🥰💕🥰🥰💕🥰🥰💕🥰🥰💕🥰🥰💕
Heer in Holland it is also a big thing. We have a green version as well😊. We eat it on almost everything; salad, cucumber, mushrooms, even on a roastbeef sammie🎉🎉
Also interesting for me to see for me. As a Swiss I know most of the products, but I think in some cases I notice the „Röstigraben“, cause over all three of the videos there were a few products that I either didn‘t know at all or wouldn‘t have considered as popular (I‘m from the Germanspeaking part).
Oh I have been craving fondue for months now! I need to talk my husband into doing this and with cheese as well!.. I think I have a date night planned! :) Thank you so much for the awesome video. Take Care :)
That was a great video and box. FYI. Cheese and chocolate are a great combo! Take a cracker with chocolate spread and a slice of a more neutral cheese like munster or mozzarella. Or take a chocolate bar (darker is better) and just put a piece of cheese on top. Goes great with a cup of coffee 😋🧀🍫
23:38 Yeah bro! I'm swiss and i do that! Just throw all the leftover fruit in there, let it harden over night in the fridge and enjoy it the next day! You'll get the crunchy consistence and the lovely taste of the fruit and chocolate.
3:29 It took me a second to realize what you were talking about. Here we pronounce it "a-ga-vey" 9:17 I always thought that the "K" on Knorr was silent too, until I saw all commercials. It's actually "Kah-norr" 16:57 Here we can buy dehydrated shredded hashbrowns that come in what looks like 500mL milk cartons. Each carton makes two servings, because they expand so much. They are super plain, but extremely easy to add flavour to
For some reason I always thought Aromat was a South Africa product. I think its because growing up it was a staple in everyone pantry and I love it on hot fries.
Try being an Aussie and you tell people (particularly ones from some Asian countries like Philippines and Thailand) that Milo (malted chocolate drink powder) is actually an Australian invention but instead of being surprised at this they just argue that it's theirs as multiple generations of their family have grown up on it and that it's made in their country, yadda, yadda, yadda! 🤣🤣 Then you have to explain that yes, it's sold in 50+ countries with 12 different recipes per region and it's also made in 12 or more countries yet the Australian version is the original. Being from Australia and being from Sydney I've grown up on many international snack brands which I know aren't Australian 🤣
I like Muesli oats! They're my favourite, especially the ones covered in chocolate. I get them in boxes like cereal boxes with different flavours. That Fondu looks so delicious 😋🤤😍
If you guys ever visit switzerland, just hit me up and i'll show you around the city of basel. Here in Basel we have quite a unique cuisine and culture, since we're bordering germany and france.
You should have put the season salt on the potatoes yummy 😋. Great fun to watch you both. I’ve been following the passing of Queen Elizabeth 🥲. Very saddened. You both looked stunning 😍 while out the other night. 😊💕
Possibly, the flavor profile for the paste in the tube might be umami? It's that indescribable, savory flavor. I'll bet I'd love it, too. I l♡♡♡♡♡ve Marmite!
Mmmmm....😋 that fondue looked yummy! Aromat and another favorite from Knorr, Kød (meat) and grill, have been on my family's spice shelf for at least 50 years. Hope you can get them both in UK. 😘 💖U all.
The first time I had muesli was on a cruise. I had it mixed with yogurt and nuts. It was so good. . Making it home I found it wasn't as good. I must have missed an ingredient.
Netball is similar to basketball although the rules, equipment and team numbers are different. There is no dribbling; no running with the ball; 7 players; ball passed within 3 seconds; ball & basket slightly smaller; no backboard; players designated to certain areas.

This was a great episode! That fondue looked especially delicious, what with the additions of the waffle and cookie/biscuit.
I love your channel.

mmmmm yes!! All sound amazing, just maybe not the pickles haha. And your finger is okay as long as it's just you having the fondue hahaha 😂

if that rösti was properly made (crispy) you wouldn't even think of putting ketchup on it :D
They sell that knorr seasoning in Tesco in a big one. I’ve been buying it for years, it’s lovely on salads :)
We managed to get a big one 😍 Ooo will have to try on salad! Thanks for the tip!
Heer in Holland it is also a big thing. We have a green version as well😊. We eat it on almost everything; salad, cucumber, mushrooms, even on a roastbeef sammie🎉🎉
