I hated how throughout this entire movie, Eddie Murphy didn't even play his hilarious, joyful self. He was just stone faced the whole movie
He still did have great delivery of all his lines and played the "Father in law from hell" role perfectly lool. I still laughed a lot bc for some reason seeing him as this hard to impress father in law was really funny and he delivered his lines brilliantly!

There's little to no racial tension directed to any non-white people there, especially since people of color (if they're not already living there, as few as there are) are usually tourists, high-paying ones, they're basically supporting our economy, and are more often than not well accomodated.
So if I were to come to LA as a tourist, and by chance somehow ended up in this kind of barbershop patroned mostly by these kind of race-obsessed men overly proud of their ghetto roots (in a disturbingly similar way that a white, corrupt far-right ranch owner would be proud that his grand daddy was a slave owner), looking down at me and noting my skin tone derisively, you bet I'd feel extremely threatened and helplessly angry just as much as a black teen about to be slammed against a hood of a police car.

@@sisterbloom6109 In the 80’s there were two rival american street gangs that started in Los Angeles. One wears red clothes, the other wears blue clothes. So Crips (who were blue) saw him wearing the colors of their rival gang (bloods) and took it as disrespect basically.

I am confused about this scene. Akbar is advising him not to take off the hoodie by telling him some non-sequitur about being a prison which is a different environment from where they are despite being in an area under the control of the Crips. So, how can keeping the hoodie on be helpful compared to taking it off and why did Akbar tell some dissimilar scenario?

I didn’t like how this movie used the black/white binary of the story arc but then made the “white” family Jewish. Jews are not even considered white by many and they face a lot of similar struggles. It portrayed both races in a negative light.
Not all Jews are white and not all black people are Muslim. I think it was just a specific example for the sake of the story.

I was truly very surprised about the narrative of this story - and have to admit that I shed tears at the end! It was funny, full of real life situations in our today's crazy material world with clashing cultures and religions. I was SO HAPPY for the ending and feel that there is actually hope for Mankind on this planet. LOVE is the wavelength that conquers all obstacles. I'm so glad for that stab in the heart to the degenerate globalists and deep state evil animals because they can not stand that we come together and unite in LOVE!

This was my least favorite scene of the movie. I'm tired of the narrative that it's acceptable and encouraged that black people can judge those based on the color of their skin & not the content of their heart.
the point of the movie is realistic tho. there are many black people who do this and the point is to show how it can affect people, the ones you love etc BUT in the end race don’t matter it’s abt the person. which is why both races black and white had a turnaround. it’s the message of the movie, it’s going on right now why shouldn’t it be a discussion ?

It nullifies the entire message and makes the idea they're trying to sell, seem less believable. The word my generation uses to describe this is "contradiction."
