Trail has changed a lot since I’ve rode there. I had a Fuel EX 8 full suspension then. Will be heading out on a full rigid drop bar mountain bike soon. Those roots will be fun.
Enjoy the ride! I bet it will be a whole different trail on full rigid.
great video Mike! The new bridge looks good. How come we didn't get to suffer with you climbing to the Apple Barn? :)
Ha ha! Thanks! I had a clip of the climb in the video but I removed it because it the video was getting too long.
Does it cost money to ride and/or park vehicle at Chestnut or Bailey’s? Is full suspension needed?
No, both trails are free to park and ride. Chestnut is a little rooty but a hard tail will be fine. Baileys is pretty smooth and a hard tail will be good. Thanks for watching.
Nice video! Thanks for doing these - nice to know what's out there before making the trip.
I dunno... my friends tell me I need to check out Chestnut Ridge, but Bailey's is like another 25 mins down the road - why bother? The modern engineered trails (like Bailey's) are just so much better. A lot of this looks like Phase 1 - challenging on a 100mm travel HT due to the wear and tear on the trails.
Thanks! You know, you're right that it's similar to Alum Phase 1, though Chestnut has more elevation. I'd say it's worth checking out. It is definitely different from baileys and that can be good sometimes just for a change.
That place is rootville
Yes it is!
