I live in a modern country. Not some shithole US state. I have worked in government and in private practice in the legal system and can unequivocally say that he is demonstrative of precisely what we need in law enforcement, governance and leadership. He is also pro-Second Amendment which is refreshing. When I gas up my car, I lock it up, keep the keys in my pocket and check my surroundings. It only takes seconds to lose your car. If I am approached, they are going to be challenged when they pull on the door handle and find it's locked. Meanwhile, I will be out of sight calling 911! Low cost tracking devices are available online and I highly recommend their purchase. This will enable to law enforcement to locate your car and with luck, the thieves! The faster you recover your vehicle, the better the chances of getting it back intact. I would disinfect my vehicle if it were ever stolen and recovered in tack, that is for sure!

My all time favorite, was during the press release about the killer who was shot many times. The reporter asked why he was shot x number (I forgot the #, seems like 70 or 80 times). The Sheriff answered that the team ran out of bullets. Another case a few years later he was asked how many times they shot this guy and the Sheriff answered "Enough". I think that was the guy on a bike that overpowered two deputies and shot them. One was able to return fire.
My question is where is the handgun the sheriff's office forgot in a burger king. A hobo picked it up and they were asking for help finding it on the news. The sheriff looked frustrated. Deadly force (shooting someone) to protect your property is not legal in Florida, unfortunately. Texas is the place to be if you want the ability to protect your property by any means necessary.

I have worked in government and in private practice in the legal system and can unequivocally say that he is demonstrative of precisely what we need in law enforcement, governance and leadership. Low cost tracking devices are available online and I highly recommend their purchase. This will enable to law enforcement to locate your car and with luck, the thieves! The faster you recover your vehicle, the better the chances of getting it back intact. I would disinfect my vehicle if it were ever stolen and recovered in tack, that is for sure!

My all time favorite, was during the press release about the killer who was shot many times. The reporter asked why he was shot x number (I forgot the #, seems like 70 or 80 times). The Sheriff answered that the team ran out of bullets. Another case a few years later he was asked how many times they shot this guy and the Sheriff answered "Enough". I think that was the guy on a bike that overpowered two deputies and shot them. One was able to return fire.

I like the sheriff, but he is simply wrong. That is not an arguable opinion, it's the law in Florida. You can only use non-deadly force to protect your property, including vehicles. Deadly force (shooting someone) to protect your property is not legal in Florida, unfortunately. Texas is the place to be if you want the ability to protect your property by any means necessary.

I think people in Polk county are more confident that local law enforcement will back them up. In my state you can carry a gun legally but if you pull it and "Don't shoot" they will charge you with a crime amd take your rights and guns away. People are scared to defend themselves.

This is a nation of over 330 Million people. This isn't a small populous country such as Canada (37 Million), Australia (24 Million), or a random country in Europe with under 15 million people.
Sample size is everything. Name me a country where peoples lives have never been destroyed by intrinsic or extrinsic circumstance. I, and just about everyone I personally know, does not know any one who has been wrongfully incarcerated or killed by the state, wrongfully or otherwise.
So I ask you again. Name me a country where tragedy has never been bestowed on an individual via polity.
This country has some of the most substantial transparency laws in the world, in which the vast majority of filed criminal domestic occurrences becomes open to media. Pair that with 330 million people in 50 different states (such as my state of California which has a larger population than the entirety of Canada), and you start to get the picture.
Im not sure what makes you think that something such as wrongful incarceration is ubiquitous, but I can tell you right now that your statement is flat out ridiculous. This country isn't perfect. This world isn't perfect. No one ever said it was. The vast majority of people who keep to themselves and do no bestow criminal behavior on others live a peaceful life.
