    I purchased my 2006 Matrix xr in 2016. A white one like yours. One of the best purchases I've ever made. I have been considering a mini van for camping and travel but now inspired to use my Matrix. Thank you!!

    Thanks, I got several great ideas for my motel Matrix! I also made blackout window covers from black foam core board for each window. I enjoy road trips and can stay at tent camp sites, saving Tons of money on hotels and motels. Thanks for contributing some great ideas for me to use.

      MatrixCamper . Matrix Campers could possibly organize a rally somewhere - after the vaccine of course. When I get started on restoring and kitting out my car (my Pandemic Project) I will post to my CZcams channel, before and after pictures. Thanks again!

    Just a note to say thank you for sharing your Matrix Camping experiences. When my 1994 Mazda B3000 4x4 gives up (now at 365,000 klm) I'm going to get a Matrix, add a roof rack and one of those long storage compartments so I can take an inflatable water craft and other gear for my fishing and foraging trips. Please keep up the great videos.

    If you scoot the seats all the way up you can fit a twin mattress in the back of these comfortably, used to use my vibe (GMs version of the Trix) for little camp outs with movies

    I have a vibe,you can also put your tire on the roof and you have the spare tire area fir storage under cargo,you can also buy cargo storage set up that attaches to back of head rest if traveling alone concider removing front seat all together,I did that in a van I converted to an rv to give me lots of room.

    After 150000 km of road trecking I now have some new good ideas. 🍻🌵⛄☔ I'm happy with my expensive REI air mattress . I use a cooler.I have a second sleeping bag to cover my cooler. I can keep ice in it for three days in hot weather. My Vibe likes to think it's bullet proof but he gets in trouble going up stream beds. Talk about stealth. Who could possibly sleep in such a small vehicle. Me.
    Bon voyage.

      @@sharakula Thank you! On Monday night I tried my setup out for the first time and it worked really well!
      I took the headrest off on the rear passenger seat and wedged in a little cooler and storage tub on the floor behind the front seat, and placed my pillow on top of that. Perfect!

  • @davidherrerasantacruz5057

    I’m curious to know what you do about ventilation when you sleep. Do you crack windows open? How do you deal with moisture ?

    • @sharakula
      @sharakula  Před 3 lety +1

      When I feel safe, I open the window a little bit. But most of the time I close windows, I knew I don't die from suffocating by closing doors for one night. Sometimes I open the door in the middle of the night just to see the stars in the sky, so I can get the fresh air.
      When I cook, I always open doors to have good ventilation. I like the new fresh air so I change the air often.
      Regarding the moisture and temperature, I only had issues when I visited Chicago area in August. It was unbearable, so I went to the Planet Fitness to spend few hours under air conditioning, but it was too cold I could not stay longer. lol
      Few days before Chicago, when I was in Colorado, it was perfectly comfortable just by running Oplar USB fans all the time. I think it is better to stay at high alititude in the summer.

      @tonygarcia1986 Před 3 lety +2

      @@sharakula I have the '05 and have camped many nights in it. For ventilation I crack open passenger side window and open the rear hatch glass and put a heavy rubber stopper that is about 2" that will let in a little fresh air. The window looks closed and the air circulates great at your feet. But always be careful of your surroundings. At a campground, it's not a big deal at all and no bugs get in. I have slept two adults (not tall) in the Matrix and love it for this.

    Love the table! How long is cargo floor from the back wall to the folded down passenger seat, if you move seat all the way forward?

    • @sharakula
      @sharakula  Před 3 lety +2

      It is just under 6". The cargo floor is 5" and the length to the most extended position is 1" or little less than that.
      I think up to 5' 8" person is comfortable, 5' 10" person is tight because not much space. 6' has no free space.

    • @AlM-sn3yr
      @AlM-sn3yr Před 3 lety

      @@sharakula - 5'11" length to the table? This should work. Thanks. I've been thinking, folded front seat looks ~1" or 2" higher than the folded back seat? If more length is needed (I hope not), a small piece of plywood btw the front and back seat would extend the bed beyond 6ft. It wouldn't be totally horizontal, with pillow tilted up a little.

  • @soulsearchmedia

    Why do you use all the layers before the foam bed? And what type of foam bed is it?

    • @sharakula
      @sharakula  Před 4 lety +3

      The yoga mat is for the car plastic floor. I sit on the car's plastic floor when I take wet cloth bath in the car, the floor is too hard and it hurts so I use the yoga mat to soften the floor.
      The bed is memory foam camping mattress. You can find them on Amazon.
      I wanted the mattress that can fold in two. Usually these foldable memory foams are not very thick so I am adding other layers. I did not buy these two layers for that purpose I just HAVE them so I am utilizing them. Besides that the Mexican Textile is beautiful, so I love to have it in my car.
