Hey I'm one of the Terrans (Thor) in the first game... one thing I think people don't realize is just how difficult it is to adapt against a vastly superior player until you're in that situation. Yes I've dealt with reaper harassment before, but never against such perfect micro (and macro behind it too.) yes I've dealt with marine drops and tank pushes before, but never with such perfect movement. I think I'm a decent plat player (only started to play sc2 a few months ago,) but It really just goes to show on how different a level pro players are xD Uthermal made me feel (and look) like a much lower level player out there... had a ton of fun doing this though haha! For those wondering, yes we were in voice chat trying to coordinate our strategies, but he was simply too good!
dude you did good. im diamond 1 and it wouldnt changed a damn thing. maaaaaybe annoyed him a lil tiny bit more and thats it.
Do you think it would have worked to just contain him with your reapers without attacking in? The moment he tries to expand or move out with his reapers then attack. Meanwhile the zerg is free to macro the map.
Yall put up a good fight. Those infantry upgrades might have helped get you all get into the late game. You all might have been able to break him if you'd sacrificed some infantry to get the vikings and ravagers on top of his liberatorsbefore he started pumping tanks out. Tactically speaking, you all played very well. His mechanics are just too well honed. The longer the game goes, the more little mistakes he can punish. GG.
@@erikhaynes5506I don't think that would have worked because it is hard to coordinate reaper movement between 2 players. Uthermal will just go after one of you and kill all your reapers without losing any (which is kinda what he did here.) even if you could contain him a little, the moment that helions/cyclones/tanks come out he would break free. Who knows though, gota try it out haha!
@@matthewmurphy4820thank you!! Yeah I figured our best chance was to win with a combined cheese, but I overestimated our ability to coordinate attacks and underestimated his reaper micro
uThermal vs 3 platinum guys is indeed an insane challenge... for the platinum guys
😎
He had them surrounded.
“Call an ambulance! …But not for me”
"I'm not locked in here with you - you're locked in with ME!"
lol. I just think they needed to attack more. They all went too greedy and did a lot of wierd stuff.
I'm Vloxal from the first game, had a great time being obliterated after my horrible reaper micro. 10/10 would lose again
Good effort! And hey, you showed everyone who said to just cheese with numbers advantage that it's not that easy... 😄
Vloxal I think the key against Marc is to play safe, keep your bases safe until you can all get on 3 bases, then max and go. For example, zerg should be building lots of queens and get on 3 bases in 3 minutes, Terran should be getting marines and a couple tanks, and Protoss should be 4gate blink. Once Protoss and Terran are maxed, zerg should go 14 mutas and just pile on the mutas, playing for nonstop harassment while the other 2 slowly push Marc's base.
Well played BTW - before this game, I thought a 3 player cheese was the way to go. But to be fair, it could have worked with like 4 ravagers. Everyone needs to push at once maybe?
@@eclipseeffigy Thank you! Although I'll admit I don't proxy Reaper very often so I bet there's way better platinum players at it than me lol
@@SeekAndDestroyTM I agree. I think everyone playing conservatively and preventing worker losses from early Reaper and drop harass would be ideal. Then push out with a giga army he can't defend (Somewhat reminds me lf his 1v7 cheater AI challenge, except we're intelligent opponents lol).
As for the reason I cheesed the other Terran suggested it so I figured it was worth a shot. I think it could have been more effective if we pooled a couple reapers first though.
@@nukecorps740_9 TBF zerg should have gone pool first and pumped out several queens for the time you bought him.
I think Uthermals secret is to shout encouragement to each unit. THIS LIBERATOR IS DOING AMAZING. THIS SEIGE TANK IS REALLY GOOD TOO, oh look at this pack of marines this is going to be amazing.
Very entertaining to watch GJ
And Billy. Billy the hero.
Under his control they're all superheroes
it's crazy that you can overcome such a massive difference against players who sort of know what they're doing.
If you watch the game its very easy to see what they are doing wrong and he right imo.
They aren’t harassing at all. If youre 100% on control of the game you can pull a lot of’things.
Plat is still 1000 games or more i think. Must be at least 80 IQ and 10 fingers too.
@@peterhardie4151 wdym
@@drassisback2949 plat players are good. Experts. 10 fingers, 80 IQ and 1000 games or so.
These out-numbered challenges are quickly becoming my favorite content.
19:05 "I feel like this is finally the kind of army I can push forward with"
Has maxed out supply
What a show of force to mark your 100K subs on your main channel! The showmanship, commentary, and mental dexterity to outplay six opponents. Seriously, you deserve every single sub you get and I hope your channel continues to grow. GGWP!!!
He was actually considering things from the other player's perspective as he dismantled them.. Clinical pro. "Quite hard to bile over this strange high-ground area..." etc.
How did he put three players on the back foot at once? Insane skill man
While narrating!! O.o
Uthermal is has the best reaper micro I've ever seen.
I don't play SC2 but this guy is like fucking Napoleon in this series.
One missed cheese and enough army to defend it counter on the 2 other players who are unprepared somehow
Mark, keep this up and it will eventually be, "Defeating 3 grand masters at once". Love your vids man.
Is it even possible
@@wicem4 no, ha
With practice he might. But only in a free for all
I was like Damn, 47 minutes? They did pretty dang well for themselves! Oh, you crushed them twice Lolol
Great fun to watch that challenge! Thx a lot man
Congrats on 100k thermy, been here since 14k amazing so fast you have grown....
Love these challenges where you go against several lower-skilled players!!
But these we're Xtreme lowbobs.
The problem these challengers keep running into is that they're playing like it's a 1v1. They keep playing into your strengths by allowing the early Reaper harass, the midgame drops, and suiciding into tank lines with ground units. I feel like a simple focus early game defense with one person quick teching into air superiority like Tempest/BC that can break tank lines would be a fairly simple but reliable strategy with this kind of numbers advantage.
yep thats exactly what the problem is. Everyone was trying to do their own thing without working as a team. Team sc2 is a different game compared to 1v1. And when playing with a number advantage you take that advantage and run with it either with a quicking timing all in or 2 players focus on defense and one techs to carriers.
"I've learned that platinum players all suck at something different."

Congrats to 100.000 subscribers, well deserved for the awesome content!
Cannot overstate how entertaining this was. Super well played, your best video yet
Def fun to watch. It really seems like if there was some planning and coordination the 3 plats should be able to hold. If there had been some static D (spines, cannons, bunkers) near the mineral lines then he would have had a hard time chipping the econ early. After that you could specialize with one Terran pursing pure air starting with vikings patrolling everywhere to stop drops and another focusing on tanks to start pushing in the ground slowly. The third player could either try to grab some cover for tanks or just pump money to either ground or air Terran. By splitting the army between air and ground you'd also get a good upgrade advantage. OFC you'd have to work to coordinate but with a tiny bit of practice I think it would be very hard to get enough damage done to the econs to keep it from spiraling out of control.
Thermy so good. I wouldn't mind seeing a 1v3 with diamonds though. I want to see what it takes to stop him!
Two vs. ten would be super entertaining! Make that one happen.
with harstem lmfao
imagine being the Zerg player in the 2nd game. "Why don't you just finish me, Thermie ~~!"
I like how even though the Zerg was crippled and abandoned, he kept spreading creep and spying with the overlords!
Congratulations to 100k, i love your videos!
This is top tier content. Great job!
uThermal: INSANE CHALLENGE
Also uThermal: does it twice 😳
The quality of your gameplay matches the quality of your commentary. Your videos are always really fun to watch, and these fan challenges are really cool. Keep it up, my dude!
damn, this reminds me of the old days of playing campaign missions.
Congrats on 100k subscribers!! Best SC2 content in the world. Thanks UThermal
i used to play brood war and sc2 so much back in the day. I thought i was good (was master) but definitely not this good. Its insane how fast you are, very impressive to watch. Im enjoying it a lot! Just subscribed :)
Awesome content Champ!* Really enjoy watching!
Congrats on the 100k subs Marc! Keep up the good content!
Digging this series! Please keep it up!
Really fun to watch the multi-prong and multi-tasking here : )
That terran repeatedly muling the gold base in game 2 hurt my soul
Thanks for the great content. Perhaps it would be fun to see you team up with another (weaker) player(s - different races), the goal to win but with both players surviving. Maybe without discussing strategy first so that communication, resource sharing, army sharing - joint or independant defence, harass, adapting, scouting etc. would be variables to be considered.
It would be great content and very instructional.
I realize that this would make your solo-multi plays more difficult as adversaries would copy your style, but I imagine it could be fun and if anyone can do this well I believe it to be you.
I've seen other pro players play some team games, but these games are often less interesting to watch than professional 1:1's as ultimately they often lack real communication skills or any deep strategy, mostly just combining some units and attacks.
The fact that you are playing with a weaker team mate could add layers to this.
One solution to that is having a weaker player fly his command center to uThermal's main and sitting there while he plays the usual 3vs1 😅
This is fantastic content. Anything goes, no mercy, fight for your life. Brilliant!
He should try playing as 2 different races at the same time in a 2v2. I don't know if it's possible, but I can't think of anything that's actually a challenge to this man anymore.
Awesome video from uthermal! Congrats for 100k subs 🎉🎉🎉
CONGRATULATIONS ON 100k!! 🎉🎉😊🎉
100K buddy 💪, congratulations 🎈🎉🎊, NZL
Love these challenges :)
Interesting, I thought the opposite: only way to win is to go hard defence.
Spire, cannon, bunker, or all three.
2v10 sounds amazing, I definitely wanna see that
Most fun series to watch for me, cant wait for another episode
Imagine if all 3 of them did a different one of your signiture cheese's. 1 does PF, 1 does thor drop, 1 does BC/Mines
Love this series. Thermy sees this , hard challenge... sure. Let's go again. Hahaha it's a true joy to see.
That was great to watch, and I hope the Plat's gained some insight from those replays. Maybe you could do a mini lesson after to teach all of us wood league plebs what they 'could have tried' in those situations? Especially the reaction to mid game.
Great games! Respect for the opponents as well! Must be difficult to play against Thermy.
Incredible. Great work.
Thank you for uploading every day, I watch them all :)
same
You had me a triple cheese. Digging in now for what I'm sure will be a banger.
Love these. I'd really want to see some where you lose them too. Just to keep it a bit more suspenseful
kind of makes me realise how OP u_thermal is against anyone under GM on the ladder in the other challenges. Like he can win just with reapers against 3 diamonds at once...
rofl, 28:03 i really expected utherm to say 'come at me bro'
gratz on 100K ! Finally
Entertainment worthy of a subscription!!! Absolute pro!! Wow!!
This is bringing back memories, I have not seen good SC2 content since bronze league heroes.
These challenges are by far my new favourite!
Damn fine work mah man!
Have a nice vacation and get well soon :)
Bro really opened the video with "F*ck around and find out" calling everyone out 🤣
5:00 "Oh wait... we forced him to make 10 reapers... maybe that's not what we wanted" XD lol especially when you lose 5 of yours for free!
Congrats on 100k!
Congrats on 100k bud!
Congrats on 100k :D
That reaper beginning looked so effortless and smooth 😲
I figured someone would BC rush but that never came. These guys should at least agree on a few things before the game starts 😆
13:43 LOL 'im gonna split' is american slang for 'i'm gonna leave', which is exactly what they just did with the medivac. You meant 'split' as in micro.
i jump ahead and watch in 2x speed often, but these I watched fully. Do more :)
that protoss in the 2nd game got u with some 200 iq storms Marc
CONGRATS ON YOUR 100K CZcams PLAY BUTTON 😍😍😍😍😍😍
Man, I need a replay of that discord call between those 3 players.
I love your vibe man you are amazing
i can imagine the team chat, ok 2 guys def the early rush and 2 guys on bcs, then the 5 proxy baracs die and everything rolls over
“Not the ovies man” 😂 Because it was his only job left.
That moment in game 2 when the zerg player wrote 'ummm...' and minutes later you realize it's probably because the other 2 stopped giving him minerals. I feel for him because it's not like uThermal was targeting him 1v1 like he would in premier tournaments.
Thermy and reapers is really a match made in heaven.
INSANE because it’s also written in the video title to emphasise that just like the other videos
you should do 1v4 in archon mode. pig did it and turned out to be a banger. love the video
Great Games uthermal!!!
What would be really cool for your Tournament Challenges would be if you had a wheel of a bunch of different challenges and you spin it to pick a new challenge for each match
Banger episode!!! 🔥🔥🔥
The skill ceiling is so high in this game its crazy, made 3 mid tier elos look like bronze league noobs LOL. Good effort guys ❤
Congrats on 100k
You make me dizzy, you move So dang fast!
9:40 insane move
Wait I thought you were the narrator playing starraft while talking is insanely impressive
The number 1 unit that gives players below pro level a hard time is tanks IMO, and uThermal seems to understand that quite well. Obviously these games emphasize how hard tanks can be without being countered. Many units can be dealt with by using un-optimal units with decent enough success, but sieged up tanks must be countered, which really stresses a player's multitasking/apm.
uThermal's opponents played well and I commend them for lasting as long as they were able. I am always surprised to see how much better players in gold through diamond are than they used to be years ago.
I've seen a few of these games now but I've learned that against him you need cannons/spines in your mineral line as fast as possible lol 😂😂
You know what would be fun is if you had cams on the other guys and we got to see their discussion, etc as you were playing the game, lol.
This was a blast!
I hope your feeling better Uthermal! Missing my dose of penguin bros.
Very fun stuff!
Yeeeeesssss this is the content I live for ❤
this was awesome
Reaper master class! I think only Maru and TY can match that level of micro.
And Byun too!
doing this while also commenting the whole time is crazy
We all talk about micro and macro. But forget one major thing this gentleman have - awareness and decision making.
more of these challenges please Thermy
From beginning of video
More like golds I get annihilated by in my plat 3 league have a profile summary of diamond leagues 😭 it was a rough stretch yesterday.
Excited to watch! Demoralize us plats
I want to do one of these!!!! Sounds like some great fun!
Bronze: Players that either have very low logical field intellect, or trolls that farm the tournaments. Very low skill in all fields
Silver: Players that grasp the basics of the game, complete beginner with at least slight talent may start at that bracket.
Gold / Platinum: Players that start to learn build orders, but don't have enough skill to execute them at acceptable timings / production rate.
Diamond 3: Either Micro OR Macro isn't enough to improve. Problems to multitask. Timings are decent but the follow-up in the mid game shows why Diamond 3 aren't higher. Overall solid rank, players know what they are doing but lack execution & consistency.
Master 3-2: Players have superb mechanics, but their multitask isn't at Master 1 / GM level. Very strong players.
Master 1 / GM : Players that are just perfect on every part of the gameplay, but lacks the genius of the above players which are ...
... top GM: the most talented players in the world. Player with absurdly good mechanics, multitask, and vision of their gameplay. They just think far faster than the other players below.
