CUNARD QUEEN MARY 2 RESTAURANTS: QUEEN'S GRILL v PRINCESS GRILL. WHICH IS BETTER?!

- There are two exclusive restaurant's on board Cunard's Queen Mary 2 which only suite guests can dine in - one is the Queen's Grill (the very top restaurant) and the other is the Princess Grill (the next best). Guests of Queen's Grill suites dine in the Queen's Grill and guests of Princess Grill suites (one rung down) dine in the Princess Grill. Both have a private club kind of feel and I was lucky enough to be able to try BOTH of them out on my recent mini-cruise, despite staying in a Princess Grill suite. I asked very nicely if I might be able to try the Queen's Grill for one night and because it wasn't too busy I was allowed to do so. This film shows exactly what dinner is like in both of these restaurants and pits one versus the other. In the end I have to decide which one is better? Watch the film to see which one I thought had the edge (or not!) and to enjoy watching some food - and some live cooking - without consuming the calories. In the Queen's Grill I make my way through five courses: a prawn amuse-bouche; a crab, crayfish and caviar cocktail; a green salad; Dover Sole meuniere (cooked at the table); cheesecake and then a cheese board. In the Princess Grill I order lobster mains for starter followed by rack of lamb (cooked at the table) and then Crepes Suzette, also cooked at the table. Thank you Cunard for so much delicious, gourmet cuisine. I'd like to come back for more!

It was worth it though and it's true, it DIDN'T feel like being on a ship. Just like being in a top notch restaurant on land...😀😀😀

Loved your video. I can't afford the Grills so always go to the Britannia Restaurant but have found that the service, in all areas of QM2, is truly excellent no matter where you eat.
So pleased you enjoyed my video. The Britannia is a BEAUTIFUL restaurant. Please god I get to sail on the QM2 again than I will definitely want to dine there too!!! it is an excellent ship, you are RIGHT!

Really good to know that there really isn't much difference - sailed QG on QM2 to NYC, but downgrading slightly to PG for QA for Norway this summer; yes the PG rooms on QA are a bigger difference to QG than on QM2, but most of the time we shouldn't be in the cabins...
Ooh, I'm really hoping to get onto Queen Anne so that I can see the difference!! From my experience I think you'll still really enjoy the PG too...they just don't have the Dover Sole in the PG restaurant...

How do you get to eat in both restaurants?
You normally can't! We were only meant to eat in the Princess Grill, but I went with my sister and asked VERY sweetly if we could PLEASE try the Queen's Grill for just one night (I told them a true, emotional story about my parents who used to eat there and loved it) and they very nicely allowed us to have one dinner there. I think we got VERY lucky.
I have a question for you.
I'm planning to take my 20 year old university-attending Godson and his roommate on the QM2 to England.
Which dining venue should I book? By myself, I'd book the Princess Grill, but maybe for "the guys", Brittania or Brittania Club might work better. What do YOU think??
Hi Stuart, SO, normally you can ONLY eat in the Queen's Grill restaurant if you stay in a Queen's Grill suite. And you can ONLY eat in the Princess Grill if you are staying in a Princess Grill suite. I was staying in a Princess Grill suite (so I was only really allowed to eat in the Princess Grill restaurant) but I asked very nicely if I could try the Queen's Grill one night, and they very nicely said yes. It is not to be relied upon. As a Queen's Grill or Princess Grill suite guest you can also dine in Brittania if you wish, though I didn't. That said, the Brittania dining room is STUNNING and much more buzzing. All guests (whatever cabin they're staying in) can dine in the Britannia restaurant. What cabin have you booked or are you thinking of booking? That will determine which restaurants you are allowed to eat in. There are other specialty restaurants that you could dine in (at least one which is a grill) but you have to pay extra and I didn't try it.
I don't know, it depends what the "guys" would like. What do you think??
What a cheek, asking for upgrade to Queens grill. The way you stuff the food in, I would recommend the buffet. Hope I don't see you on my transatlantic trips.

I liked the cooking show and presentation, but I wouldn't eat any of those foods. I'm a basic traditional foodie. Don't like anything fish.

Very good idea to not watch this video on an empty stomach lol! I do eat a LOT in these videos - it is alarming when I look back at it. To counteract it I do LOTS of exercise and rarely snack between meals!! That's the only way...
