In this episode of Tekniq, we will observe the process of wast and manipulation of metal through incineration as well as the production of ship propellers.

they’re looking for plastic or other types of scrap that they can sell to recycling plants. It’s far from lucrative but for many it’s the only job they can get. In India and other south Asian countries it’s often the lowest castes that do this job.
@@krashd It doesn’t matter. I can guarantee that things aren’t the way you think they are. Somebody figured out a way to make money by promising you otherwise
I’m in the plastics business. Recycled resin is literally HALF the price of virgin resin. Also manufacturing recycled resin from scrap is about 20%-30% cheaper than purchasing recycled resin from the market. Recycling makes sense in the South African market. However if oil and gas is dirt cheap then virgin resin would be cheap and likely kill the recycled material business model?
It's incredible how much garbage the human being does... Also nice to see that still are good intentioned people recycling or reuse in some other way what was considered trash.
If I were one of those people with a basket on my back, I would be seriously considering moving to the U.S.A., where all my needs would be met without having to work.
Not sure why, in the US if you don't have a job you end up living in a tent outside a store surrounded by human faeces. Any sensible person (who doesn't have an ocean to cross) would head for Europe.
Why not have the trucks back up to a steep slope going down, so when they dump it, the garbage slides down into metal doors. When the furnace is ready for more garbage they open the metal doors and it falls into the furnace.
Everything needs maintainance and mending. It wouldn't be good if the doors broke when the pile is high. Keep thinking of ways to improve stuff though.
All job applicnts mus have Rinoplasty to block all ofactory senses. If you have never had the oppertunity to visit such a facillity, you are not missing anything. The smells are overwhelming.

why don't they just use gravity to let the trash fall to the place they want, instead of using the big claws? seems like the place needs to be re-designed.
Because you need to mix the trash. Sometimes trucks come with a full load of paint or something wet, you don't wont all of that going into the fire all at once so you spread it out. During the start up or shut down procedure a lot of wood is brought dumped for the crane operator to use. That way you can ensure that as much as possible of the fuel is fully burned up when it finally shuts down.
Good idea, but there are problems.. You'd need some way to limit how much falls at a time. That woukd need a machine at the bottom of the pile. How, would you fix it when the pile is full?
Who ever designed the claw did a terrible job, half of the trash falls over or gets stuck on the railing because it doesnt go against the wall far enough.

That’s Jakarta’s “trash mountain” in the second clip.. they are sifting for anything recyclable
What were the people with the baskets on their backs looking for? They seemed to be picking up a variety of things.
Looks like they are pulling plastic out. Either to make sure it’s separated or more likely to re sell it themselves.
They are looking for food, bones, cans and plastics.

PET, PE or PVC plastics. Those are the most recyclable kinds of plastics.
why not tell us what is happening? may have been interesting.
How many deaths happen here each year? All those people in proximity to the equipment being operated must have a toll.
In Sweden, none, in Vietnam, they likely don't record the deaths of "peasants" who carry shit for a living.
Surprisingly very few - outside of the occasional trashman getting backed over by the pay loader !

Shy of aluminum… LITTLE TO NONE. 👍🏻
You should see how much energy it takes to make NEW material
Making new products and refining raw materials also uses a lot of energy also so maybe people should stop consuming so much.
