It’s a tough shot ¯\_(ツ)_/¯… Also a lot more help and rarely get down on a block 1 on 1.
It’s tough to master, you probably need to start doing it young. Besides, bigs now are being asked to shoot 3’s, so their shot mechanics are very different.
I mean only Kareem was able to make it as his signature move. I think it’s not only problem of current players but even the players in 1980s was barely able to do this move. Kareem was just abnormally good at making those shots.

It's not fair to reduce Kareem to one single move. He had a whole bag of moves that he'd break out when he needed to. His bag of tricks wasn't as expansive as Olajuwon's, but his moves besides the sky hook were elite level as well.
Everybody else had a whole arsenal of moves too, but he mentioned only the most notable.

In my opinion the greatest farewell game in NBA History is by Bill Russel. In game 7 of the 1969 NBA Finals the Celtics defeated the Lakers by 2 Points and Bill Russell won his final 11th championship, thats pretty impressive.

I disagree = where is Bill Russell? His last game was a game 7 win in LA vs the Lakers for the championship. Russell won 11 rings in 13 seasons! And in his last 2 seasons he was the player-coach of his team!!!

The reason why NBA players now are more durable is because of advancements of the workouts. Back then they just play basketball and lift weights traditionally. And sometimes other players don’t even lift. At present time players now have advance strength and conditioning workouts, better skills trainers, scientific techs to help their bodies recover, load management, health staff etc. (though other strength and conditioning coaches need to step up more, cause there are lot’s of injuries occurring in the game today)

I think he only meant that Dwight and others learned from Hakeem and tried to follow in his footsteps. Obviously not quite getting there, just like Kobe not exactly reaching or surpassing the Jordan level.
