There is no "guilt" in Buddhism !!! Another important point is that not all of the famous teachers did prostrations!!! But I wouldn't want to undergo the alternatives they experienced, e.g. Naropa or Milarepa.
People have done those long arduous hikes with prostrations up the mountains to reach a holy site. I've known individuals to do Walking or jogging vows also with fasting ...It's the personal vow we're making to God..Doing a million prostrations seems kind of impossible doesn't it!.You'ld have to be in great Physical Shape yet anything is possible.
