Mozzie Doodle Obedience

Mozzie at a young age is doing an awesome job working hard on his obedience and focus around distractions and in new places.
We went to our favorite pet food / supply store Tails of the Adirondacks to work in a new environment on our obedience and around more people.
Several customers came in and out of the store while we were there and we gave Mozzie jobs to do such as heeling, sit and down. We did NOT let him say hello to everyone that we saw which is an important and often missed part of puppy exposure and socialization.
Of maybe 10-15 people we only let Mozzie say hello to two and we knew they would follow the "rules" to help him work on appropriate greetings (no jumping!).
We believe in quality vs quantity to help dogs learn self control around new people and places. We don't want Mozzie trying to rush up to every person we see as this will promote pushy and over excited behavior and greetings. AND not every person in the world - even as cute as Mozzie is - will want to greet or pet him. He has to learn to wait until we give him permission to say hello and otherwise stay focused on us and mind his manners.
Lots of people were impressed by his good work for such a young pup and he showed an awesome calm state of mind and ability to tune out all the distractions of the store!!
