Especially on Android, u practically have to knowingly download the virus.. Very rare to get Trojan, etc on Android OS.. Malware and Adware is a different story.. a lot of people have it on their phone w/o knowing

it's the only way to download APK's, I've been downloading all types of apks from a variety of different sites and i never had a problem, no background processes running in the background, no security alert, no malware, and my phone is functioning well with no stutter so i think I'll be fine.

This isn't the case, usually there are some apps that aren't on the Google playstore hints the name "Unknown". And the odds of a virus being on a app are slim, usually files are viruses, so I suggest you don't.
You don't have to disable this setting for your internet security, and if you have an Android version higher than Android O, you don't need to worry about this because if ever an application tries to download viruses, Android will warn you and ask if you want to download "this application"... and use a bit of common sense too, don't give this permission to a random apk that has been downloaded from an untrusted source and don't give it to applications that don't need it either.

The person I was talking to unknownly install app through chrome but I got message from play store security and then I immediately turned of Net and Uninstalled that app and removed chrome access to Install unknown app.

This is the most dumbest woman I ever heard, function install unknow apps is when you try to download app that is not in app store but on internet and when you download it, it's gonna be telling that this might be dangerous app because play protect don't know forward that it might be safe and she just blocked it to download apps from chrome. I recommended to download eset, eset still protect you even if you don't have eset keys.
