I think that was the last season he played as a true winger, doing a lot stepovers and tricks. (not saying he stopped doing them, but it's clear his change of style throughout the seasons).
The reason why changed his playing style after 2014, was because he couldn’t keep performing like that because of his knee ending career injury which is incurable. Since 2014 he’s been playing every game with knee injury, which forced him to reduce his incredible speed and couldn’t perform the skills as quick as he used to.
Knowing what he achieved even with such injury and pain after 2014, to me is even more remarkable of all his achievements. Many players would’ve ended their career straight away or after 2 seasons which such serious knee injury, but he is 38 and still playing at the top level.

That was the last season he was at his prime, he didn't ''start declining'' per se, his dribbling ability and freekick efficiency just skydived after that world cup, it was almost like it wasn't the same Ronaldo anymore, I was so confused as how much of his dribbling skills he had lost over like 2 months. The only explanation would that injury, doctors told him to do surgery and not play the WC, he didn't listen, feels like he never recovered from that injury :(

He has it all - right foot, left foot, long-distance goals, dribbling, skills and tricks, headers, set pieces, excellent in crossing as well. Why are people always comparing this and the Manchester united's Ronaldo with the current Ronaldo, like the current is shit?! I can understand that in 2007 until 2014 he was better, much more quick, more strength, stronger, better dribbling, more goals, more assists, better free kicks taker, more movement in the pitch and so more involved in the game but how can they think that in 2003-2005 he was better than his 30+ version?! In 2003-2005 he was younger, more strength, more dribbling-tricks and maybe he was better to watch but i don't think that was the same for his teammates 😅: he was too selfish(he was only running and shooting and crossing or passing the ball only when he was about to lose it) no team playing, he was losing the ball a lot of times because of doing risky tricks, less assists (despite he was a winger) , and less goals, yeah because he was a winger but camon admit that he wasn't capable to play like a striker until 2007, for score you need to be much more simple, less tricks, less skills, you need to have good alchemy with your teammates and you should have good movements without the ball. Now he his a much more mature player, he has understand that he can't doing selfish skills because he doesn't have strength and because if you want to score you need to prevent energy and be simple and cynical. I think this about him: 2006-2014 > 2015-2020 > 2003-2005.
