You Gotta Believe is one of a precious few organization in the U.S that solely limits its practice to finding permanent parents and families for young adults, teens, and pre-teens in the foster care system. Over the past 15 years we have grown from a team of 3 to a team of 15 full time and several part time staff while placing hundreds of NYC area children in permanent homes.
I'm currently a single man who has raised a son who is grown now. I'm considering adopting older kids. Stories like this are certainly inspirational and give me the courage to think I can do it too. And as a black man I know there are plenty of kids who need a good home and someone they can depend on forever. Kudos to you Joe!!!!!
Yes please keep us updated ❤️
I am thinking of this as well. It is scary but so rewarding
Please do us older kids are always left behind
I think u have the compassion to b a great dad to however many kids u can handle, GO FOR IT!!!!!!!
concorde if you have not seen it yet, watch the CZcams series 'Now I am Known'.
This story proves that it only takes 1 man (person) to change a life. As Nike says, 'Just Do It'
More men like Joe are needed.
Looks like there will be at least 3 more...his kids
This man, ah, to be someone who aged out of the system and has made a life for himself and has chosen to SAVE these boys. He saved them. He has changed the whole trajectory of their lives! He has given them the anchor that is family! God Bless that man! He is a TRUE MAN!
Hats off for you, Joe! The world needs more people like you.
What a family! My parents were foster parents for 35 years . I was adopted at 18 and have never looked back. I am so thankful.
God bless you Joe.. all they needed was just a chance. Just a chance.
Thank you for this video. 8 years ago unknown to me, I walked I into the lives of 2 kids who ended up becoming my own. 5 years go the youngest one came along. Never saw it coming. I would have laughed in your face if you told me 8 or 10 years ago I'd be a dad. Now my kids or becoming a young adults. Ages 20,16 and 15. I would not trade this for the world.❤️🌹
Joe is what I call a succesful person. A total inspiration...
THAT WAS BEAUTIFUL TO WATCH THAT GUY OPEN HE'S HEART TO ADOPTED 3 TEENAGER BOYS
Good man saved three great kids ! Thank you man for making the world a good place to live !
The son described Joe and that said it all:
A good man
Thank you Joe
What a wonderful story and a wonderful father. He turned around the sadness of his own life and made himself a success. And now he's giving other children the chance to have a loving home, a supportive family and a bright future. I, also, have adopted two older children from foster care. You can really change someone's life forever. I wish more people would consider adopting older children.
As a two time adoptee, I agree, but I encourage perspective adoptive parents to have previous experience before adopting older kiddos...
That way the adoptees don’t have to endure yet another parent’s learning experiences, trials, and errors..
This is the best story I have heard all month.
God bless Dad and boys!!!!
i love listing to peoples stories like this.
What gold there is in everyone. Xavier became a great young man and a wonderful big brother. Wow. Joe, you really loved the hell out of them all. Haha. Bless you all. Well done.
God bless this man for given these young men the image of what a man is
My guidance counselor!
I'm a single man who adopted a 13 year old. Tough but fulfilling. These are special kids.
Great video
When I was 18 the best family ever took me in after a big fight with my mother. The relationship with my parents has never been better, and I decided to become a foster parent whenever I have the money and room for it
FantasticRoze6 you are very nice helping other people my sister and I got abandoned when we where 8 and if there were more people like you back then half my childhood could have been bettet
what a wonderful person Joe is.
Wonderful family and a fantastic dad! What a good man!
So inspirational. Blessings to all the boys and men in that household.
Joe, you're a kind and special man. You are the definition of a proper father..stay safe and happy.
I have been thinking about this for such a long time. I have two biological kids that are all grown with there own children. I don't know if I am too old but I often think how much I would LOVE to be a foster parent. (I am 61). Some people think I am crazy when I bring this up but I am going to start seriously investigation this. Who knows what gift, support that I might be able to offers some young person. There are so many kids & young people that are put threw hell, do to NO circumstances of their own
What an awesome guy, learning from his own sad past and giving so much to others
Sometimes life IS fair.
THIS IS ALWAYS A AWESOME STORY FOR GIVING THE OPPORTUNITY TO THOSE KIDS TO HAVE A FAMILY 👪, THANKS DAD FOR DO WHAT IS RIGHT FOR THESE YOUNG BOYS , YOU AMAZING !!!! 😘😘😘👌👌👌🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤❤❤
There are angels that walk on earth .
Heartwarming story that ended so well. God bless Joe for sharing this incredible video!
God bless you Joe!!!
This is truly so heartwarming, Joe. I wish my father was like you. I can see how genuine and sincere and loving you are. You’ve got the qualities a parent should have. I have 2 sons and I know it’s not easy. You have patience as well. I wish I could adopt. I’m not able to for financial and health reasons. I pray for you and your family, God bless you and your 3 sons.
Wow! Need more Joes in the society!

Thumbs up!!
Joe you are a saint!
I absolutely love this. I see this was 9 years ago. I hope all 4 of them saw their dreams come true and that they are all truly happy. My 3 bio sons are mid-late teens. Actually they are almost exactly the ages of these 3 boys at the time of this video. They are starting to talk about leaving the nest. As my home starts emptying, I would love to start refilling it with fostering and adopting. I feel that I still have a lot of love and support to offer.
Being in foster care myself as a child make my heart breaks for these kids !
Joe, you are a hero. Damien, John, and Xavier - you are 3 smart beautiful young men! I am rooting for all your dreams to come true.
I just love this. Keep coming back to it to soften my heart a little... and weep a little for happiness.
Good to see young guys given a chance put in the effort to learn and mature. Parents are half the picture. Young adults need to try too.
What a lovely man you are! And your sons will grow into great men too, with you as their father. G-d bless you
I needed this. :)

Beautiful family..beautiful story, thanks for sharing (:
This is great, I am looking into foster care adoption as a single parent. Almost all the videos i have come across in my searches have been from younger kids and two parent families which made me question what if anything i could offer as a single father. But this video has encouraged me to continue with the process. Also to open my search to older teens who need love just as much as any other child.
Much love to all of you xx
wow awesome video, awesome Joe! I am a older gay male who has hosted 27 exchange student (sons) over the years. I am so thankful that Europeans are not hung up on me being gay. Most parents might be a tad hesitant, but have the opportunity to talk to past exchange students and their parents. Once they talk to them, the boys come over here. The only thing that the parents expect of me it to make sure their sons are safe. And like I tell my boys, I am mom and dad, and if you think you think your dad would take a bullet for you, I would do it twice as much. If someone was going to try and hurt my boys, they have to go through me, and you would have to call the cops to get me off anyone trying to hurt them. I love helping these kids fulfill their dream of an exchange experience.
I LOVE THIS!!!!!! please post an update
So happy for all of you well done ....You can never have too much Love
