Why would anyone be offended by a wishlist? Like as much as I would love to get sent free books, seeing you opening your gifts and your face light up makes me really happy on your behalf! Like no one is forcing you to send someone books, it's ridiculous that people were offended, and it's not fair on your behalf that you had to take the wishlist down.

I honestly don't see the problem with the wishlists. This whole situation was because of assumptions. Also, I think some people are using the word "uncomfortable" in place of the word "jealous" and no, they're not synonymous. Wishlists are an awesome idea and if you don't want to send a book, then don't.

It's not fair that people can't send you books anymore. if people are uncomfortable with it, they don't have to send you books. I, for one, was planning on getting all my favorite booktubers books for their birthdays. I think that there are more people that enjoy th unboxing hauls and sending the books than there are that are uncomfortable with the whole ordeal. I really hope that you put the wish list back up, because i love looking at wish lists for book ideas and also for gift giving.

Meh. I wholly recommend you putting your wishlist back up. The people who bought you books were doing so out of a good place, and not an obligated place. Wishlists are an indication of what books you WANT to read, for family and friends who don't have the luxury of knowing what you have already read. If they have an issue with the concept of a wishlist, that is THEIR issue, not yours my darlin'.

You should never have felt obligated to take down your wishlist. If people felt uncomfortable about it being there, they should 've just ignored it instead of pressured you into taking it down. Like you said, you never pressured people into buying you things.

Is it just me or does anyone else think that those who feel "uncomfortable" because of someone posting their amazon wishlist, are booktubers who are not popular enough to get any books? Or just seems to me like this is about jealousy in general. I just really don't get it, why it is such a big issue.. I know jealousy sounds really harsh, but that is really the general vibe I get, i'm not trying to be offensive.
No booktubers have ever asked for books, they just started posting those wishlists because their subscribers started asking them for it.

I agree. I as a subscriber have never felt obliged to buy anyone books, but I think It's a nice feature for those who want to. It's not an obligation, besides It's usually all the way at the bottom of the description box, It's not like they tell you to buy them something. People have made the "issue" a lot bigger then it needed to be.

Fantastic book haul. I can't understand why people got so offended by you having a wishlist-it's by viewers' request & I've never felt any obligation was imposed. I get that coffee-craziness too if I don't ration myself to a cup in the morning. Oh to the joys of too much caffeine!

I'm so sorry people made you feel bad about having a wishlist, so that you had to take it down =( Like many people have said in the comments, I never felt obligated to send anything and don't see what the big deal was.

+Meghan Curley That is what a Wish List actually means, it's just there is an extra function on Amazon that allows you to purchase one or many of those wish list books for that specific person. I mean, it is on Amazon, a online shopping site...so...it's kinda a given that they would include that function, it doesn't mean anyone that see the wish list is obligated to buy the book for the person.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the only people who seem to have a problem with wish lists are other booktubers who don't get sent gifts.. No one feels obligated to buy anyone anything, they're just gifts and if someone wants to buy them, you can't blame the wish list for that! I don't make videos, I just watch them, so I come from a different angle I guess.. Anyway, I loved this video, it made me laugh!
I don't make videos as well and I didn't like the wishlists...It made me feel like I am only a good subscriber, if I can afford a book for a booktuber. Trust me, it can make people feel uncomfortable.
BookPancakes But isn't that your own perception of yourself? The booktuber's can't be reliable for everything. No matter what you do or say, someone can always end up feeling uncomfortable.
GreyPersona Yeah, I really get your point and it is true that it depends on the individual viewer. But if so many booktubers noticed that some subscribers don't like the wish list system, there must be a lot of them and I personally think they'd rather take down their wishlist than lose subscribers.
And it's not that I have something against the wishlists themselves. It's a great way of sharing which books one like to read, but I just don't like the fact that you are able to send books through it. If a subscriber really wants to send a special book to a booktuber, it is still possible to message them and ask for their address. If they than don't want to give it out, that is perfectly understandable as well, but 'their problem'... Also, I just don't really see, why a booktuber deserves a package of 8 books because in the end they are nothing better or worse than their viewers.
Well, I guess this is a controversial topic and people probably won't change their opinion about it. I just wanted to say that the opponents of wish lists aren't only 'jealous' other booktubers

Why would people feel uncomfortable? People make wishlists all the time, from the time when we proudly posted our Christmas wishlist on the kitchen fridge and shared that with friends on the playground. It just so happens your medium is a video. And we all know you love books so...weird. Haha. You're still awesome!
....That makes no sense, I have like ten different Amazon wishlists that I have put together for MYSELF. I don't have it on private, but for friends and family on holidays and birthdays it is a great tool. I don't know why a fan of your videos would feel obligated to send you a book and or feel bad about not being able to.

I love your videos Kat, they make me laugh. And as much as I love them, I have never purchased her a book. For those that felt uncomfortable or seem like they are only a "good" subscriber if they buy Kat books are really misinterpreting the whole concept. I dont think any of those people who bought her books feel obligated. These are gifts, plain and simple.

Totally agree with what most of the other commenting are saying about the wish list. I had absolutely no problem with it and I really don't think it's a big deal at all. It's practically the same as having a P.O. box, except the gifts are actually relevant to the channel. Like others have mentioned, it's seems to me that it's not us, the viewers, who have a problem with the wish list, but other lesser known booktubers.
It's ur wish list. For ur self. No one has to buy anything if they don't want. People need to realize that. She isn't asking for you guys to buy anything. Kat ur amazing. Keep doing what I want.
That is crazy if you want to have a wish list on amazon have one anyone that feels otherwise it's their own problem to deal with if they want to buy you something good for them if not ok then it's not your responsibility to take on what everybody feels that watches your videos

I think it's pathetic when people hand down shame.. you don't deserve it... I'm a huge fan of your videos and find no offense at all at a wish list.. it's something you " wish" for for petes sake... There are thousands of other youtubers that ASK for things... I've NEVER seen that in your videos... I'm all in favor of you putting your wish list back up!!! People have the right to send you stuff if they want.. that's part of human nature is sharing .. I have plenty of friends that LOVE to gift books in general to anyone they know.. a real book lover receiver is few and far in between!

I think we all know that what those people were feeling was jealous not uncomfortable. I mean I feel jealous that I don't have that many books and people sending me books but you know what I would never expect you to stop posting your wishlist link just because I can't handle myself. Some people... I love browsing wishlists though, they usually help me choose what I'm going to read next.

I never felt "uncomfortable" with you posting your wishlist, and I think that it is a good idea for your viewers who want to send you a book to have a list of titles that you still want because you already have so many books! I think the problem might be jealousy? Anyway, I'm sorry that you felt like you had to take it down.
Holy moly books!! You can actually still have your wish list to showcase the books you want to buy with an amazon wish list and make it so that way people can't buy you things. You just can't have a shipping address.

An amazon wish list is also an awesome way to see what a person rates highly so you can make your decisions with that in mind. It would be cool if you could send people books that aren't on the wish list so you can see their verdict on a boom you've enjoyed though. people sending others books (or anything) is nothing to be jealous over anyways just appreciate that they're are giving people in the world!x
I don't even share your taste in books but I love watching how excited you get about reading... makes me want to go find a cozy cottage with a fireplace and just read forever. Also, I wouldn't worry about people feeling uncomfortable about the wishlist thing. I didn't know you had a wishlist but it's a great idea. Seems like it makes people happy to send you books!

I personally never felt obligated to buy any CZcamsr anything. If I did buy anything it is because I wanted to. Its sad that you have to do away with your wishlist because other people were feeling insecure. Either way, I appreciate you and your vids. The discovery of Witches is really good. The author seems to get a little crazy with the wine talk but other then that its a good story. Book #2 is much better and book #3 is coming out in about a week or two. WhooHoo!

I love unboxings!! Especially when the person unboxing the items is excited haha. Also I really don't get the whole being uncomfortable with the wishlist thing because why do people care so much about what others do? If it makes them happy and it isn't hurting anyone, then it's their decision. I also find it strange that people don't feel like good subscribers if they cannot send the booktubers books....you can be a good subscriber without sending gifts...

The art in the Shadowhunter Codex is so gorgeous, I couldn't believe it when I first opened the book. Also to see all that information combined in one book, made me appreciate Cassandra Clare's world building even more. :)
I don't think you should have taken down your wishlist, you know? And you absolutely don't need to apologize to anyone. If someone decided to send you a book it's because they wanted to do something nice for you. Howl's Moving Castle, and all of Diana Wynne Jones's books, were a big part of my childhood. I would defiantly recommend reading the Chrestomanci (if I remember how to spell that correctly) series as well. It's fantastic as you don't need to read them in any particular order and you don't even have to read all of them, even though I highly suggest you do.

Kudos to you for linking to charities in your tumblr post. I always felt icky watching booktubers open piles of books whilst standing in front of hundreds of their own beautiful books. I kept thinking about kids and schools who can't afford books at all! You've done a good thing.
