Absolutely, the irreverence is fantastically British (see 'stairs' bit) - the American faces really highlight the surrealism for me - and the casting... oh, the casting! I love every single character in this sketch as much as those of any real drama.
I can't get over how much I love Higgins and the Matriarch, though...

I was honestly surprised at how funny and spot on this spoof was. Fred Armisen, I literally cackled when they showed him. That guy as the Dowager omg his expressions were hysterical. Higgins actually nailed the accent. They captured so many downtown-isms it was impressive; the opening shot with the dog, thomas' glare and connection with O'Brien, Brooke Shields looked spot on as Cora, the hot daughter, it seriously was so shockingly good. Theres a new movie, please do another skit soon!

ha! so good! they didn't do edith justice, though. I think they were implying that edith is not so desirable, but the actress is fine!

The characters in the show often treated Edith like she'd never achieve anything or get married, even when the audience grew to like her more than Mary
I never got why the characters in the show (including Edith herself) keep treating Edith like she's ugly. Laura Carmichael is absolutely gorgeous!
Add me to the "Laura Carmichael is super fine" pile. Edith had major personality issues early, but as she matured and found contentment she became more and more attractive.

Just stumbled upon these 3 skits after having bought the "Downton Abbey" DVD box set. The Fallon crew does Downton proud----this is hysterical. Very funny impersonations--Higgins is especially so---and I nearly split me knickers laughing when Lady Hedith was introduced. Fallon should do a whole DVD of these!
