Thanks for the helpful forecast Alex - after the glorious blue sky and sunshine here in London yesterday, it's been very grey and chilly this morning.

weatherwise, I've never known a crazier 48 hrs here in the SE - it's gone from the brightest, summery Andalucia to January in Glasgow in that time!

  • @theeventhorizon-valebridge9512

Please STOP conflating "thunder storms" with our "thundery showers". It is SO annoying and insulting to hear trained meteorologists continuously blurting out this misconception. We very rarely get actual "thunder storms" here in the UK as you well know, so please stop sensationalising our mundane small showers containing the odd flash of lightning! You are losing credibility!

Thundershower is not a term used in meteorology.
A thunderstorm has no size constraint. It can be a single, isolated, cloud or a huge weather front.

Any shower with a thunder, is, by definition, a thunderstorm. In fact, technically, if there is only thunder, it is already considered a thunderstorm. What you may be saying we rarely get here is severe thunderstorms, which are a particularly dangerous and strong thunderstorm. In fact, those we rarely get, but the normal thunderstorms, are called just that.
