imagine you're a child. your dad is a programmer and he decides to make a small game for you to play to help you learn about colors. he even lets you help voice act. he decides to put it on a shareware disc to maybe help other parents , and although its influence doesn't go far, it still brought you much joy.
a few decades later, you arrive home from your new job late at night, and you are exhausted. you've all but forgotten about the game you helped create. you'd had a falling out with your father, which eventually lead up to him kicking you out of the house, leaving you homeless for a few months. although you're tired and weary, you decide to tune into one of your favorite streamers before heading to bed for the evening in your tiny studio apartment.
when you hop onto his stream, you immediately recognize a familiar voice. it's your dad's voice. all of the sudden, all those memories of you making that game with your dad flood back into your head. his voice almost echoes in your head, calling back to a much simpler time, back when everything was so new and exciting.
the rush of nostalgia is enough to distract you from the stream for a few minutes, with joel now screaming into your ear like a drill sergeant. " *_YO, SHIT FOR BRAINS!!_* " he screams, " *_WHAT GOD DAMN COLOR IS THIS?!_* "

The Tetris 2000 sound file being copied to every other game feels like a genuine creepypasta on the making, like the disc is actually sentient and is pissed off at you for messing with it.
I think I understand a lot of why it's happening. A lot of shareware use similar sounding names, and for this particular one, due to how old Windows did things, shareware usually takes something that is higher in the file hierarchy. So for this instance, it takes the start.mp3 from Tetris 2000 since that's the highest start.mp3 in the hierarchy and plays it. And many of the shareware on there also use a start.mp3. So yes, Joel unintentionally cursed those games to shout Tetris 2000 because of Tetris 2000.
