Fantastic record, I have a really hard time listening to it now because the feeling of nostalgia is quite overwhelming with this one as it is linked to very specific events and people from my past. Actually one of the most meaningful and memorable events in my life had their debut as background music. The music has a very beautiful melancholic summery vibe I loved it pretty much from the first second. That being said I do agree with the observation you made about Dean's vocals. Loving your picks and reviews. Great stuff, really. I miss my old CD's, tapes and records. I repurchased quite a few but I'll never see most of the stuff I had ever again :( this is one of the CDs I miss the most.
I'm so glad you have been enjoying my reviews! I love interpreting lyrics... I've been on a break with that for a bit but I will return. This year my reviews have all been live streamed lyric discussions which you can find on my LIVE tab or on my album review playlists. My lyric discussions are not very popular it seems but I enjoy them when I have the energy to do them haha. But yeah I know what you mean about how some music can be hard to listen to due to certain memories it might bring up :(
@@themusicholecole tbh the lyric discussions were what really made me drawn into your content. I guess to each his own :) but, yeah, I can totally see where you are coming from. This specific album reminds me of my first ever relatiponship, my first gf was the one who got me a lot more into this band, I got her into the Cocteau Twins who became her fav band. There's some really good and innocent memories in the layers of depressing stuff too. Growing up gives us new perspectives.
Definitely one of the best and most underappreciated bands I know... do you like Luna btw? Same singer and also really good too... Lunapark and Penthouse in particular I think are must listen albums, especially for Dean/Galaxie 500 fans. BTW I dunno if it would be your thing or not, but if you ever wanna share music or talk music with some fellow music lovers youre welcome to join my Discord chat group 🙂 discord.gg/GYutAkpz5B
@@themusicholecole LUNA did nothing for me. But Galaxy 500 knocked me out. I still listen to it 30 years later... Snowstorm & When Will You Come Home are my favorite tracks...
@@anthonypicco7811 Damn....that could have been me writing that. Luna didnt really work for me much either and When Will You Come Home is a fantastic track.

P.s. - As a dude with Aspergers I can totally relate to your personal side of the reviews.

All 3 Galaxie 500 studio albums were excellent.

Really great album and band, top ten of 1989 for sure! Although, I have to say that Today is my favorite! Much better lyrics and vocal performances!
Sad that they only released 3 albums
Yeah :( But check out Dean Wareham’s next band Luna, they were also AMAZING: www.musichole.com/p/luna.html?m=1
