- Our trip on the MSC Orchestra from Durban in South Africa to Pomene in Mozambique in 2022.
It is a 5 day cruise and I thought I would be able to squeeze it into a 10 minute video, but boy was I wrong.
It is now a 5 part series for the 5 day trip, each video is one day for the 5 days.
The plan was to make it a bit informative for those wanting to know what to expect when you go for the first time.

Just an update, weather was terrible and we didnt get to go to Pomene, we did get a refund though for the pre booked items.☺
That was unfortunate
they also told us it's a 50/50

Yes there is halal food. a very big selection available to everyone at the buffet and I am sure there will be in the restaurant as well.
You don't pay extra for the halal food it is included.
You have to buy drinks like coke and beer if that is what you want.
you can use a drinks package or you can use your cruise card as a credit card

Just a question with regards to the covid test , is it done at the ship ? or should i do that on my own ?? does the company organize these tests and we just pay for them ? and how much are the tests ?

you do your own test 72 hours before at harbour you do a quick test (Free)
On the ship you will do another test (Free)

Hello me again, Sorry but when embarking did you have to do a covid test before or is the one done on site enough? Did you also have to be fully vaccinated?

Thanks for the question
Your first Covid test is the one you do 72 hours before you do the check in process and that is the one you pay for and you have to have the documentation with you and it must be negative.
When you arrive at the harbor you do an antigen test and the results are in within 10 minutes. you don't pay for this one and it must also be negative.
The last antigen test is done on the boat on day 4 in our case before you get back to South Africa. You also don't pay for this one and they don't give you the result or this one. It was quick and very well organized.
You have to present your vaccination certificate when checking in. We were vaccinated but haven't gone for the booster yet. They didn't ask anything about the booster.

The initial covid test you take prior to boarding, was it an antigen test? I'm going next week and was wondering if it's a rt-pcr test or an antigen test you present prior to doing the antigen test at the port
@@TheSofiaKennedy according to their website it said an RT-PCR is required and an antigen test will be done on site before you board.
This is definitely not what it’s like anymore, it’s now a floating taxi, I would not wish this on anyone for a holiday, how times have changed for the worse

Its like bar prices, not too much. You can buy full bottles on the ship for a bit less if you want. The liquor store is on Deck 6 or 7. They don't have a lot of things there but they have some.

we paid for our trip 2 years before we went because of covid and the prices would have gone up
I think you save about 10% if you buy the drinks package

Yes you do feel a very slow up and down movement sometimes a bit from side to side, but not much.
I didn't feel sick at any time on the ship.
I thought sleeping might be a problem with the ship moving all the time but ended up very soothing and I slept very well.
I like the movement of the ship.
I will go again and film it again.

Our trip cost me and my wife about R12 000
with all the extras we took
we added some drinks packages and an internet package (aloud us to make whatapp calls to our family and friends)
