Roger Miller and my Daddy were first cousins, sadly I never knew Roger. All of his songs are great. I have clenical depression, and this is MY FAVORITE song by him. Thank you for posting it , so much appricate it. I have a picture of my Grandma ( Grace Gray ) sister of Arjellia Gray Miller, and Roger is with them when he was about 8 years old. A family heirloom for sure.

That needle-skipping is powerful. Grew up with this song and Roger Miller. Thanks for posting.

The needle that is skipping is probably the most awesome thing about this upload... and the song of course

people have their reasons and most aren't teenage girls who got broken up with and are sooo sad. the only thing that stopped me was a friend who told everyone and got me help and pure hatred. my hatred for the people who made me feel bad and wanting to see them dead or in jail, which one did go to jail (yay), kept me from doing the deed. my advice for people contemplating suicide, become strong and powerful and destroy whatever made you feel like that, Don't kill anyone now, just watch them beg.

Great song written by a troubled but talented entertainer.
On the subject of this song...Once I saw someone wearing a t-shirt that said, "I feel a lot better now that I've ginve up hope." For those who feel that way let me say that Jesus has not given up on you!

I actually enjoyed the needle getting Stuck, not skipping & reminds me of the last time I played 45rpm records and had to get off my butt and move the needle arm.

the skipping needle always reminds me of DJ Joey Reynolds working on WDRC in Hartford Ct. , playing a song called In the Midnight Hour, by Kit and the Outlaws, he stepped out, the record skipped for at least 5 mins.... I believe he got fired

I saw some comments about the skipping needle so naturally I knew it wasn't an error in the download etc. So then i got to thinkin' what it meant. First you've got to know what causes it and what needs to be done to fix it. When a record skips, it either means their is an error in the record, or its the end of that side. "Error" could translate to "mental disorder" however I don't think this is the proper explanation. Then that leaves us with the "songs are over" this may be an analogy for death, but I don't think this is the answer to our question. I believe that the purpose of the record skipping is to show that he needs help. In both scenarios, the help of another person is required to fix the problem or permanent damage might occur. I believe that he is trying to say "if a person is suicidal, their are signs to show that they need help" using the record skip in this song. If you think I'm incorrect please tell me because i'm sure others like me would like to know. Hell, I'm only doing this because their was no clear answer in the comments.

I’m 22 now, and I’m pretty sure it’s just an error in the recording. :p
Edit: But thanks for reading my over-analysation.

alive. ran out of characters. i used to want to commit suicide, i felt then and now that i was in the right. i had spent since i was kindergarten till i was in 11th grade being picked on and bullied. bullying made me stronger than my piers. i don't have a problem with some bullying. that was thirteen years with no end in sight. also, the feelings that i was worthless because i didn't go to college at thirteen and wasn't a ceo of a multi-million dollar compay at sixteen.
