    I have the Sport and the adapter plate that puts a tank ring on the alu-rack--that lets me use the bag as a rear bag instead of a tank bag. It looks sleek and functions really well. I"m glad you did this review as they didn't include in the instructions what that little black lanyard with the popper was for--I had noticed how hard it was to reach the wire for disconnect :) Thanks so much!

      TheLikeableRider quick follow-up question if that's ok - which model would you recommend to be big enough for a DSLR plus a couple of lenses. Just big enough but not overly so. I'm looking for the minimal size I can get away with.

      I can get my DLSR and one spare lens in the Engage, not sure you'd get two it, depends on the lens size I suppose. The City would he the next size up, you'd comfortably get it in that with room to spare, but with the City you're on the road to a large tank bag. Just checked the Day pack, that's a better shape, you'd probably get everything in there with a squeeze

    These bags look really nice as well as good quality, but none have a phone holder clear panel on top. I remain dubious of mounting my phone on bars. Have seen phones fall out of mounts as well as phones cameras being damaged by vibration. For me, a tank bag would solve both those issues. Phones doubling as GPS is another consideration as well. Other bags that have phone slots are again not accomodating current phone sizes.

    • @thelikeablerider8800
      @thelikeablerider8800  Před 4 lety

      Im not a fan of tank bags with phone slots, most of the time you cant operate the phone through the clear plastic. I've been mount cameras and phones on the bars for years, never had n issue. There's some really good reliable mounts out there!

      I couldn't say for sure, as the explorers tank does fall away a fair bit, towards the rider. I think that it may hang over too much. You'd be better off with the Micro or Daypack. The city also fits well on your bike, my m8 has one on his.

    saw some questions/comments regarding dslr's. That's one of the uses I need to get a bag for so I can take some camera gear out with me and my '16 SuperDuke. What bag do you typically use for camera gear, and what do you fill it with? I'm a little nervous about weight. I'd typically probably want my DSLR, 70-200 2.8, and a wide angle lens.
    I'm debating between the SW-Motec system and the Givi system, and a bag in the 15-20L range

    I also really enjoyed your vid. I've got an S1000XR as well, and was about to get the Daypack for it, as the Micro was too small, and the City too big I thought. I hadn't come across the Engage. I like it though... The Daypack seems to fit another 4 liters when expanded, so I'm torn... When the Daypack is installed, is there a big gap under the front of it (closest to you)? Or can you put it forward enough, so there's not much?

    • @thelikeablerider8800
      @thelikeablerider8800  Před 6 lety

      It would be the engage for me, although with a water bottle you'd have to go up to the City. The City will do you all you neef comfortably, but a bit more towards a touring tank bag

  • @martinthompson2584
    @martinthompson2584 Před 7 lety

    Any idea which bag can be mounted forward the most with minimum projection towards the back of the bike?
    I've tried one of the small Givi bags on my ZX-10r and it hits my chest because the fuel cap is so far back. The bag projects back about 70 mm from the back of the fuel cap ring. The SW-Motech bags look more promising, but it's hard to tell. The Daypack and the Micro look like they have the most potential.

    • @thelikeablerider8800
      @thelikeablerider8800  Před 7 lety

      Martin Thompson
      the larger bags have the most amount of adjustability, but obviously fill up most of the tank space. The Micro or daypack would probably be the best option for your bike.

      just had a look on their site, I don't why its not listed under the S1000Xr, but it is listed if you just look through their tank bag range. The Tank bag is called the engage, and you'll find it under Luggage Systems, Evo Tank Bags. The Ring is also under Luggage Sytems, Tank rings. I see there are two different ones for the Xr, depending on the year of your bike. Not sure why that is because they are the same. This tank bag and ring will fit the Xr, I use it on mine.
