Look, even though LaCienega may be self entitled that is honestly a scary situation. Although it's a cartoon. It's still scary not alone dangerous. Even if she did deserve it, she is still a teenager and it was her birthday party. She could've honestly died. I'm terrified of heights and I wouldn't wish this on my worse enemy but I'm glad that things turned out good at the end. 💞

I'm not saying she "deserves" all this crap... But I'm also not saying she doesn't at least half of it either. She may have "slightly" redeemed herself in this episode, but there have been plenty of other times where she's been just as cruel as LaBrea, if not more so, especially to her "friends".
Put it this way... LaCienega was bullied by her cousin growing up because her cousin was not as fortunate as her. LaCienega had a problem sharing her toys which only increased her cousin's animosity towards her. They're both victims of poor parenting. LaCienega's mother spoilers her half to death which fuels her narcissistic ego. She also encourages LaCienega to disrespect her father by disregarding him... Meanwhile her father can sometimes be insensitive, inconsiderate and borderline abusive. He says cruel things about her body fueling her insecurities such as saying she has feet like a duck or a hook-billed platypus. We as fans laugh at it, but coming from her own father, this is very toxic. He also tends to lose his temper and punish her in ways that leave her traumatized, such as putting her LPDZ dress in a paper shredder which was totally unnecessary. Both of her parents are hypocritical which often leave her feeling confused. Her dad is also insecure himself, so you'd think he'd be able to empathize with his baby girl a bit more. Her mom fails to see eye to eye with her and ignores LaCienega's negative social cues such as body language, I suppose it's because she's blinded by a "mother's love". LaCienega often doesn't talk back to her mother because she doesn't want to make her mother upset. This is either out of fear or love. You can see at the beginning of this episode LaCienega is clearly frustrated that she's forced to drag LaBrea with her to the beauty salon, but Sunset totally misses it. Despite this, LaCienega complies with her mother's orders and says, "I will Mommy" with a smile on her face despite being pissed off. This is amazing considering the fact that LaCienega has a smart mouth.
Her grandfather is a jerk but also a coward as you see how he talks about Suga Mama in a language she cannot understand despite the fact that she shows him a lot of love.. this doesn't set a good example for his granddaughter who by the way he threw in adult jail once for trying to spray Penny with a water gun after Penny had screwed her and the other girls over in an LPDZ episode. Both her mom and her dad fail to listen to her at critical times, such as when Papi was being abused at a nursing home, she warned them not to leave him there because he would be all alone, but they didn't listen, so she had to risk her own safety and call on Suga Mama to help rescue him from what was essentially a prison camp where he was forced into slavery. This is AFTER Papi had thrown her in jail. She competed in a singing competition and her own parents didn't even vote for her which even made Penny feel sorry for her who once had to beg her own crazy daddy to talk to LaCienega when she was depressed because her own parents failed miserably. Not to mention Penny was the one who had to even tell LaCienega's parents that something was wrong with her because they went two days without even noticing that she was crying nonstop.
Also when we revisit the scene where LaBrea nearly fed her to birds.... they were left unsupervised in the wilderness around wild animals. There was a sign that said DO NOT FEED BIRDS, but for some reason there was BIRD FEED near them. That's grounds for DCFS to get involved!
But all we see is LaCienega being mean to Penny, when deep down she really admires Penny but isn't comfortable admitting it. This is because she is not fully in touch with her feelings because she is terrified of appearing vulnerable which is why when Penny tried talking to her at her (ruined) sleepover, she noticed Penny's gesture but refused to talk to her and retreated underneath her blankets. She knows Penny cares about her and each time she's reminded of this, it melts her heart and it makes her cry. That's why she briefly shed a tear on stage while giving Penny a shout out after winning the beauty pageant, but then reneged on this when Penny actually thanked her for the shout out because she's afraid to share what she deeply feels inside. LaCienega is extremely emotional and comes off as a drama queen... she knows this and prefers not to burden the people around her with this while also not wanting to be seen as a crybaby. THIS IS WHAT MOST FANS OF THE SHOW ARE UNABLE TO SEE. I can go deeper but this is long enough...
This isn't to say LaCienega is perfect, but she's dealing with a lot and much of this has shaped her personality, worldview and behavior.
LaCienega isn't EVIL, she's just.... a girl, simple is that.

This is very awful that Labrea kept on mistreating LaCie which she almost got her killed for a moment. At least, LaCie wasn't so unlucky for surviving the fall with her dress that floats down to safety on her own feet without meeting her end. For that matter, Labrea owes LaCie an apology.

Although Lacienaga was a brat many times throughout the series, that cousin of hers took it way too far. She could have gotten her killed. She didn’t deserve to be forgiven and they shouldn’t have become friends. That cousin also deserved a serious consequence for attempted murder.

But after all this, Laci still hasn’t changed. She still reminded the spoiled, rude, and bitchy fake friend. Although the cousin took things too far, there were moments when I felt more sorry for HER than Laci. The issue with the cousin was her controlling and selfish mom. At least Laci had a good loving mom.
